This is based on my experience with lithium polymer battery chemistry in RC airplanes. I can't imagine cell phone batteries are that different, but I could be wrong.

Do tell.... it makes sense to you that a company such as Sprint that has the 1st 4G phone being released a week from this Friday and it's a hush hush job?!!?

So today I got a chance to stop in what everyone calls "The Shack" and I checked out the dummy EVO model and got all giddy giddy over it, the guys there seemed pretty cool. They were obviously phone knowledgeable and one told me that Froyo was expected to be on the EVO within a week of it's release date. But the phone felt GREAT in my hands I didn't wanna give it back. But the kickstand was sweet, as well as the overall look of the phone. It is also very pocketable I didn't have an issue with the size at all. Can't wait to have the REAL version of that sexy beast.

I apologize in advance for my crappy image, it was taken with a Treo 700wx. Today I stopped by my local Best Buy to see if I could reserve the first spot of the day to pick up my phone, and low and behold, they had several Evo displays setup with dummy phones along with lots of "Buyer's Guide" magazines with our boy on the cover! This is the most marketing I've seen to date for this phone.

Called BB earlier to see what spot I had. I preordered on the 14th. The day after it started. First I called at least 3 different times each time no answer from mobile department. Then I got an operator who said they were busy and they'd call me back. 3 hours later no call. Called again finally got through and some snobby chick tells me they're not aloud to say what spot u have. Then said she wasn't aloud to talk about it. I was like .... ok ?!? I don't know where they find these simps.
How in the hell does this make sense.

It is sprint.
Now about july, you are going to coast into june 4 on just release news. June 1- launch of iphone 4g is going to be all apple. To go against that would take some major money. So if you start the heavy shelling when the iphone is released you may be a foot note in the media about the evo. A footnote is better then nothing. To start spending money now, only to have apple make you disappear is pointless, you are better off give away phones for free.

I was in the car tonight and heard my first ad on the radio for the Evo. It was actually a pretty cool commercial. Talking about the evolution of the smartphone. The only downside was the last 10 seconds or so was mentioning the evolution of 4g (and I am in an area that is not going to get 4g any time in the near future as far as I can tell). Still, it was a well done commercial, no Hesse calmly talking about the phone. Almost Droid-esque in feel to the tone of the commercial. AWESOME.

I'm sorry... but your post seams a bit random.. I agree that the Pre's commercials sucked so bad that I had almost forgotten about them till now. . . . . As for your logic, I can see advertising in July being smart, but momentum needs to start sometime and a week ago would have been good. Getting the word out to the unknowing masses is important, because we're the only one's that know about the phone.
I'm going with iphone is a great phone, but so is the EVO, thanks.

The cases that they were displaying look very similar, if not the same, to the ones one the Seidio website.
If it was any other company, I would completely agree with you, but this is sprint.
EVO was done and completed by at least the beginning of may. Which means they could have shipped it by now. They could have shipped it for a may 7 release. They could have done it
But what did they choose to do? Release it in the middle of apple week. Think about that. They could have had it in your hands in the middle of may. With out a single competitor to run against, but what time did they choose to run it? Apple week.
Ignoring that. PasT behavior is a good indicator of future behavior.
