lol I know what you mean. Come on Sprint.
Speaking of which, does anyone know who handles Sprint's advertising/marketing?
TS out
I have been complaining about this. I think Sprint should have started advertising right after the announcement of the Evo! If not then at least after the O/I. In 30 min. it will be 9 days until release! COME ON SPRINT PULL YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR BUTTS! i have said it a billion times! Use the same advertising tricks as Verizon and Apple, i.e. Advertise on every TV station, magazine, and radio station every 5 freaking minutes! If we have learned one thing from Apple and Verizon it is YOU HAVE TO BRAINWASH PEOPLE!!!!![]()
Small warning about bodyguardz. I have a coworker that ordered the htc evo guard from them, may 12. They said it shipped on may 17. Today he called them to find out what happened. They gave him the run around. First told him that they did not know. Then they email him to say it will not be shipped until after june 4 2010. When he called them on that saying that he could get it shipped today, if he ordered it today, they finally said they would ship it today.
Had to waste about 40 minutes of his life for no reason but stupidity. So just a warning. They will give you an automated response about when it will ship, tell you it has shipped, then find excuses for why it did not ship. And in order to get it to ship, you need to pester and bug them. So you know. Can get the emails to prove it.

So this was NEW service set-up with Sprint? How did you do this prior to the EVO release?

) in 4G markets are going to be disappointed when they don't get fast, reliable 4G service. Everyone here understands that it's a relatively new network that needs to be tweaked and refined, but Joe Consumer won't be willing to wait 6 months or a year to get what was promised in the ads. I think this problem will be compounded by the EVO tax. "WHAT??? I'm paying EXTRA for this shitty service?!?!?!?"
I have no way of proving it, but it seems like this would be the default screen when the phone is set into a desktop charger.
This is for new service. I'm bringing 5 lines in on a family plan and said I wanted to wait until the EVO came out to buy all of them. The sprint rep took my driver's license and put all of my info in the system and attached the 27% off just to see if it would work. It did.
So, now I am already in their system with a 27% discount. I did not have to sign anything. On the 4th, I will just go into the store, and if the guy I talked to is not there, they just need pull up my account info on the computer and check it out. That will be when I sign the paperwork. Sprint Rep said he could hold the account info with discount for 30 days if I can't come back in on the 4th.
He also said there is a small chance they will get the shipments early, and if they do, I would be contacted to come in and pickup an EVO before release date.
Man, Sprint just keeps getting better for me.

The Nexus 1 (well, the FroYo) device dominates. Can't wait to get some of the froyo goodies![]()
Congrats on the Guide status, SprintFun!

After checking out countless reviews on the EVO, spotty and inconsistent wimax coverage seems to be a common theme. When it's good, it's great, but it doesn't seem to be stable and reliable yet. I'm worried that when Sprint finally DOES start advertising, they're going to emphasize the 4G aspect WAY to hard and people (not us, regular people) in 4G markets are going to be disappointed when they don't get fast, reliable 4G service.
I'm afraid that once the phone hits the streets, this forum and others like it will be flooded with new members slamming Sprint for false advertising. Even worse, Verizon and Apple wil take advantage of that negative upsurge and nail Sprint with a campaign aimed directly at wimax. Look how successful Verizon's "there's a map for that" campaign was. Clearly, Sprint does not want to be trounced by Verizon like AT&T was.
However, if Sprint makes it clear that the EVO is a world-class phone even with just 3G coverage, it won't be such a big letdown for those who happen to live in a 4G area. And although it's probably a marketing no-no, I think they should somehow let folks know that 4G service is still in its infancy with lots of work still left to do. Sprint, if you're listening, please don't screw this up. And I'm saying this as a shareholder, not just an EVO fan.![]()
Example. . . . look at the iPhone! Some of the crappiest drop rates and network connectivity around. Diehard iPhoners complain about it all the time but they don't stop using the phone and the mindless hurdles continue to buy the iPhone.

The HDMI cable arrived today, so I hooked the EVO up to my TV and tried it...

This is a picture of my TV with the EVO hooked up through the HDMI input.
It's playing the same video that I uploaded to YouTube yesterday.
I've seen some reports about the output looking a little grainy on the TV and I'd have to agree, but I don't think you can expect it to look better than what was taken with the phone. It's still HD and it looks great. I don't think you'll be making any apologies to your friends when they see themselves on TV from a video made with your phone, either. Instead, I think they'll be awestruck.
For those that haven't ordered the HDMI cable yet, the link that cary328is gave is the correct one. Here's the information from his post:
Arrow Electronics - North American Components (NAC)
Put part # 687860003 in the search box.
The cable is 6.56' long and costs $8.40 + shipping
There was some opposing views on the cable length, so I measured it and Cary was right on.
Edit: I just ran the slideshow option from the gallery and the pictures look just about as good on TV as they do on my computer. So that means you and your family can watch slideshows and videos taken with you phone.
I ran a YouTube video and it didn't show up on the TV. That probably has something to do with sensing a 720p connection?
I think that Sprint would be much better off touting all the other wonderful function and features of the EVO and not make people's eye glaze over with commercials that spend too much time talking about 4G. I've watched the Clear 4G commercials and they are boring and meaningless to the general public.
Just my two cents,
In 2008-2009, sprint, motorola, and verizon EACH spent $100,000,000 (each year, each company) dollars to directly take down the Iphone. As they did, Apple's iphone continued to set sales records and pick up customers from them. As apple says there is a song for that.I would like them to stalk every apple & Att ad out there. Every time someone sees an iphone, I would like to see it smashed directly after with an EVO.
You just cant win. But they are half the price of zagg, and we are sharing the protectors, which makes it about 13 bucks for each phone. We will see if they arrive now.Funny thing is I had the same experience when ordering for my Diamond almost 2 years ago, only with Invisibleshield. I ended up cancelling the order and ordering from BodyGuardz with no problem.![]()
Your pro 2 has a resistive screen not capacitive. And no the stylus will not work with the EVO since capacitive screens respond to static electricity in your finger tips. Although I heard that some company is coming out with some sort of magnetic stylus that mimics static electricity that will work with capacitive touch screens.
Thanks, I wasn't sure and had given my friend my extra stylus to use when he got the EVO. So I can't use my nails neither I have to get used to my finger tips? I use my nail now sometimes. I'm sure i'll get used to it.
