No they dont MAKE you pay anything, its always optional, the option is you buy the phone and pay the extra $10/month, OR you dont want to pay the $10/month and you get a diff phone. you ALWAYS have a choice, even if someone has a gun to your head, you have a choice (though one choice might end a little more messily then another)
 
can the mods take this whole $10 "tax" conversation someplace else? it's been beaten to death and then beaten to death again and now it looks like it's coming back for yet another mind numbing round of a conversation that's going to go nowhere. pay the money and get the phone or don't pay it and don't get the phone.

You are correct, I had the choice of getting the phone and getting the $10 a month credit on my account, which I did. :D We shouldn't have to pay and additional fee just because the phone is capable of using larger amounts of data.

Read the posts or don't read the posts, they are all relevant. You seem to really feel the need to comment on the same as we feel the need to talk about the fee, same difference.

That's awesome. I was hoping they'd do that with the EVO or 2.2. One thing I'm wondering though is if Sense will still be on top of it for the 2.2 upgrade. That froyo port on the EVO is the nexus one version which I don't prefer over Sense.

yea Sense will probably be on top of 2.2. they hero has sense over the 2.1 update it got
 
Just got called by BB to set up appt, said they were giving free bluetooth nothing else. They would sell me zagg frnt shield for 21 + 7 to install FTS
 
Note to those thinking that the ability to "disable" Sense will result in faster upgrades: No. You are disabling the Sense launcher and home-screen, but Sense is still running--deeply embedded--in the OS itself. You'll have to wait for HTC or someone else to do it properly.

I just called... It's a plantronics 230... on another note, my BB ordered 3 Plam Pre's last year which I don't have to tell you how pathetic that is.... I was curious to know how many EVO's my BB has and the rep said at this moment they have 23 (of which I was the 1st :D) I further asked if he had any news to how many pre-orders BB had in all and he couldn't answer that, but said that within his territory their are 6 districts and within those 6 districts they have over 25,000 pre-orders for the first wave alone... yes 1st wave. The 2nd wave is to hit on the 9th five days later. The rep believed the headset give away may only be a 1st come 1st serve to the 2nd wave.... I would imagine BB is looking to get rid of them, my $0.02

you'll see here that the dock that's coming soon will have both the hdmi and usb input. So it charges and streams.
 
I sure wish Best Buy would allow you either the bluetooth or to use that as credit towards a different accessory. I appreciate the thought, but would much rather pick up a case or charger VS a dinky bluetooth...just my thoughts!

I am wondering from my fellow forum members, which bluetooth headset they may recommend. I'd like to spend my money wisely, and there are some pricey choices out there. I want my Evo to shine to its full potential...

Only a few more days...man I'm starting to pace back and forth LOL jk, BUT CLOSE!

IMO all blue tooth head sets suck... but if you need to get one, I would recommend a jawbone one.... I guess....
 
Went to sprint store today in my area Stow, OH right next to Akron about 50 miles from Cleveland and the rep said my area would have 4G this summer. That just didn't sound right but I'm sure he is clueless. Also had no Evo's to look at. Just posters of it up.

Am I crazy, or does the picture on the buyers guide show the phone's location (in the weather widget) as Bellevue? That's where I live!!! :D

I got my RadioShack appointment setup yesterday, so I'll be getting my EVO at 4:30PM this Friday :cool:

below is a link for cleveland and cincy. Hope it is accurate. Unfortunately i'm in Columbus, and don't know when it will get here. That is why I am looking at the device as 3g.

Does anybody know or know where I can find info on where the 4G towers actually are in the Seattle area? I'm just wondering how widespread the coverage is.
 
Maybe they will put facial recognition in at some point with all this new front facing camera tech. That'd be sweet. Then no one could use my EVO but meeee muhahahah lol

Decided to format the card using the official sdcard formatter here: SD Formatter 2.0 for SD/SDHC - SD Association (takes awhile to do a full format because it writes to the whole card and then formats). I unmounted the card before I did this on the phone.

Put the card back in, browsed around and did everything I could to make it come back and everything seems ok now. YMMV.

I have one of the Google I/O phones and had the same problem, but reformatting the card with this special SD Formatter worked for me. Sometimes drives that are massed produced or cloned can have problems, so I suggest putting this high on your todo list before you have much data.

This problem didn't show up for a few days for me, but why take a chance?

Edit: I formatted the card with the utility without removing it from the phone. Here's the steps I used:


  1. Plug the phone into USB and choose "Mount Drive" from the screen.
  2. With Windows Explorer, copy the files on the SD card to a new folder on your desktop.
  3. Download, install and run the special SD Formatter from the link above in aldo's post.
  4. You only need to do quick erase so it only takes a few seconds.
  5. When the format is complete, restore your backup files to the SD card.
  6. Done
 
I am watching the Nascar race and just now they did an "in car" with one of the drivers. While they were talking, on the screen was the EVO!!!!!!!!

Also, I received my bill from Sprint and in with the bill was a small flier for the EVO. I guess they are advertising.......just a little.
