Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

Am I the only one that's seriously disappointed with the video camera? It lags wayy too much and the quality is just horrible. Also tried doing a live stream to qik, the stream didn't show up, but it did say live on the webpage. Then it uploaded the videos when I stopped streaming, and those videos weren't able to be viewed.

I noticted the lag, I used advanced task killer to kill all the apps running. Then I reattempted to use the video player. It helped. 720p requires to much processing power. We are still a year away from having acceptable HD Video recording on cellphones. When we get the dual core 1.2ghz snapdragons I think HD video will be better. Untill then we still possess the best video camera for a smartphone till date.

Tip: The more light the better.

Now that the EVO is out, posting to this thread has reduced drastically. Before the release, there used to be dozens of posts per day. Now, we have 7 posts (including mine) in the past 13 hours. Where is everybody posting now? Is there any big thread. When I look at all the EVO 4G threads, there are over 11 pages of them.

Long post, sorry guys :eek::(

So now that everyone, or most people have their Evo's, what do you guys think about the battery life? Personally I think it could last a big longer. Went from full charge at 9 am, to about 7 PM, with little internet every half hour or an hour, played a few games, tried to stream a youtube vid (service at work is pretty crappy, 1-2 bars, sometimes none.) So I read up on some battery information. Came across this site:

Fixing the Battery Problem your Android Smartphone Seems to Have

I turned the Phone off last night, charged it through, and will be goign to work soon to see how it goes. Also, here's another link if you want to try some tweaks. Sorry if it breaks the rules, please delete if it does.

stopped by my best buy today (sunday) and they were sold out of evo's. Redding ca
Yesterday I got to play with an actual EVO at the Sprint store. Pretty cool phone. On asking whether they had any in stock (I would have been very surprised had they said yes) they told me that they were out and were expecting more shipment on Tuesday.

Hopefully I get a fast reply,

Where do I find pictures I take on the EVO when I connect it to a computer?

What folder stores pictures?

I went to every single folder and I cannot find the photos.

Anyone?

Thanks!

Connect as a disk drive and then move the files over just as you would when you browse a usb stick :)

guess I should have been a bit more specific... I want a sync process.... like doubletwist because they have an podcast I want and I don't beleive I can find it anywhere else... it's only available on itunes and we all know thats not gonna happen.

I also feel the camera isn't the best... I takes good photo's of most things, but high intensisty colors or florecuent colors don't shoot well.

.... I tried to add a few photo's but got denied... files either to big or just failed....:(

They are in a folder called DCIM. :)

Download an app called ASTRO File manager, its free, and you can view all the folders. From there, Find a folder called sdcard, then from there find a folder called DCIM. Inside that folder is another folder called 100MEDIA, I believe thats the folder that stores pictures taken from the camera.

Ok HTC said I need Astro File Manager that they recommended it when I asked how to see your SD card on the phone. Before I got Astro I could go to menu wallpapers and click gallery I saw my whole gallery including a folder on my sd card named Evo Wallpapers. I could pick one from there and set it as wallpaper. Now when I go to menu wallpapers and click gallery I see my sd card and it says sd card with the name of the folder at the top. But it wont let me add as wallpaper anymore the ones in that folder. It will say at the bottom added but it's not. But I can go to apps and gallery and bring the folder up that way and it lets me add as wallpaper but not the other way which it did before Astro. Am I making sense? I guess it doesn't matter I can go to apps then gallery each time to make one of my new EVO wallpapers a background but I am used to hitting menu wallpapers and gallery like before and why it says added but it don't I don't know.

Hmm you kinda lost me, but I think I know what you mean. So now when you hit menu on the homescreen, and select wall paper, then choose gallery, does a prompt come up asking you to choose Complete action by using Gallery, ASTRO?

EDIT: If you rather take this in PM, then we can go that way, as we don't fill up the thread with spam.

Sprint hasn't released the figure. The following is all sprint would say:

"The total number of HTC EVO 4G devices sold on launch day was three times the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first three days on the market combined."

on another note... has anyone bought a game from gameloft for their EVO? I thoughtwould go over and check gameloft out and it.... going through the process it seems to be locked to verizon only... how did everyone else get the game on there EVO though...? Did you just roll with the punches, by that I mean did you say yes to verizon and so on....

he said he would give me trade in value on my old phone. I had him look it up, and my touch diamond is worth $22 if I have the charger, and it is in very good condition. I laughed. I'll still be going to best buy.

FWIW you can still trade the old phone in at RS. You could apply it to an accessory purchase or even get a gift card and use the money later.

For all those that got the Zagg screen protectors how do like them so far?

I installed mine yesterday and im not too impressed, its kinda sticky. Im not sure if I should get a different brand, any recommendations?

I had the ZAGG on my touch pro 2 and felt the same way, too tacky feeling.

I bought Ghost Armor for my Evo, and was pleased with it after I put it on. Word to the wise: the side panels are very frustrating to put on! ...anyway, this weekend I went to bestbuy, and someone had already returned one of the platinum cases, so they had it sitting in a ziplock bag. I asked if I can try it on my phone. It was hard to slide on, but it did go on. However, when I took it off, I realized that it had bent the corners of my screen protector. Although I was bummed out, I decided to buy the case anyway (it was only $15). When I got home I took off the back cover from the phone & slid it into the platinum case & it fits perfectly. Not sure I want to use this as a permanent solution, but it does look really nice. It also covers up the corners of the screen where the Ghost Armor got messed up.

any recommendations?

I love my Ghost Armor! No sticky feeling to the screen. It feels exactly the same as the regular screen. Also, they may still be selling the full body protection for $15 (plush shipping).

Extremely off topic, delete at will, but I am glad that Apple had the decency not to call their new phone the iPhone 4G, just the iPhone 4. And our beloved EVO (speaking collectively here, I haven't bought mine YET) is still better!:D:D:D

I got my gameloft games on Appbrain :) I have 2-3 of them :)

As far as 65,000 that number is nothing... the PRE was their biggest launch to date and we surpassed that by many :D
