Official HTC Hero 2.1 Update now (5/19) on Sprint.com

I did a hard reset and reinstalled 2.1. Phone's not perfect, but much less laggy than before.

Hey all,
Newb here sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I have the Hero from Sprint and yesterday downloaded the update from Sprint however every time I try to update the phone It keeps getting stuck at 65%... any suggestions?

btw. I love my droid !!!!!

I wiped it clean b/c it had a lot of folders from previous apps i removed & didn't know which came with the apps i actually use. I did a hard reset on my phone (which kept the 2.1 update). I have NOT installed the latest software update yet (though it keeps prompting me).. But my SDs clean. What do I need to have on it, other than what's indicated in the steps for rooting?

((also.. what's up with the phandroid login prompt?? it's not accepting my androidforum.com login/password, so i'm not sure what i need to input for it & it's rather persistent. very annoying!))

I installed the update 2.1 and my $200 pioneer cd btb-200 couldn't keep my phone connected for voice calls. I was able to connect for music though but I bought the kit for voice calls. So I rooted my phone and still no roms fixed the issue. So I called Sprint and complained about the dust under my screen and got another hero with 1.5 because once you go 2.1 you can't go back . So don't do it. I wish i would have known.

i just purchased the htc hero from sprint over the internet. i was all prepared to do the 2.1 upgrade when i got the phone today. to my surprise the phone already came loaded with firmware version 2.1-update 1, software number 2.27.651.6, just thought i would let new buyers know. i did have some trouble with the home screen weather not updating but after a hard boot the problem fixed it self. im new to the android os but the phone seems to work really well. good battery life

Hey guys,

I seem to be getting a problem - error 130 model ID. I checked the guide and there's no instructions to follow in order to fix this. I've also had a search around other forums and there's been no luck. I really want to update to android 2.1

Would anyone have a solution?

Can this update be applies via Windows Vista? Or does that not even matter?

I updated mine using Windows Vista (32bit). Worked like a charm

If I update, will I lose all my contact and calendar info and text messages, etc.
