There you go guys: Official HTC HSUPA update for the Inspire 4G

HTC announced today on the HTC Inspire 4G support page that AT&T customers should expect a ROM update for their Inspire 4G devices. This comes in time to the frustrated Inspire users who have been asking both HTC and AT&T about an update which allow them to enable HSUPA on their phone for better data speeds. It looks like the FCC approvedhttp://www.droidmatters.com/news/htc-files-for-hsupa-software-upgarde-for-the-inspire-4g/their request a month ago to upgrade the Inspire 4G’s software.

HTC says that this is a maintenance release which target bugs related to Hotmail, Live,MSN email and increase potential data speeds which points at enabling HSUPA.
To check for the update, you have to do the following:
Home>Menu>Settings> AT&T Software Update> HTC Wi-Fi software update
Or you can go directly to AT&T and follow their steps by using this link

Update: Inspire 4G Users are reporting that the update is available

And if it works like i think not everyone will get the the update at the same time. More like it will be distributed over certian areas at certain times. That's how it was done with the Ally on verizon, took a week before mostly everyone got the update. But idk how at&t will roll it out so im just guessing.

I am downloading right now. My big thing is, I hope it helps make the rhapsody app a little smoother. It is the biggest pain how you have to push the playlists button 50 times before your playlists load up.

I'm hoping this will stop the buffering while using sling box via the Dish Network app. Over wi-fi the app works great, but it's just about unusable over the ATT network as it buffers every 10 seconds.

I see they stuck two HTC logos up in the notification bar, on each side of my Juice shield. That's new!!!!!!,

I am getting twice the speed I was getting a few days ago. But it is still only half of the speed I was getting a few months ago.

I hope you guys realize this doesn't enable HSUPA, just did multiple speed tests, got 2.7-2.9 down and no more than .3 up after the update... Edit: Restarted phone as well, still producing same results.

Please explain then what the update was for then if not for the hsupa update. I have also tested and no to little change was noticed for speed both dnwld and upld.

the update description is VERY VAGUE. It does NOT mention HSUPA specifically.

This Maintenance release includes:
  • Hotmail, Live, and MSN email auto configuration settings update.
  • Makes the email set up process much easier and includes the most current settings for each type of email.
  • Increased potential data speed at which data can travel on the network.

A lot of people are reporting improved upload speeds. Most people I've seen are getting a little more than a mb for uploads (which is a far cry from 300kbps)...

Question. I'm an at&t customer but i am currently out of the country. My phone says i am not on at&t's network anymore but a network called SMART. Can I still get the HSUPA update if I can get on WiFi?

Personally I would assume you would be able too since it says to be on wifi anyways.

I am doing the install right now. I believe in my area I should be able to get faster speeds then what I was on before.
