LOL...WOW I am away for two days and i have almost 100 pages to read...Geeze I LOVE this place. Well while i am catching up on the reading, perhaps all of you here could answer this question. I know way back in the early pages a company was mentioned that is know to make the best aftermarket batteries and accessories for HTC products. I think it started with an S. Would anyone be so kind to post me in the right direction? ROCK ON KAPPY for the news!

Was it seidio?

I can't believe it... My sister called me from the VZ store. She needs a new phone. She wanted to stay with Blackberry. I couldn't persuade her to go with and Android phone. She's choosing the Tour. I'm so ashamed.

That's ok, my wife is dead set on upgrading her BB Curve to the BB Curve 2. Maybe when we upgrade and I get the incredible I'll be able to talk her into switching within the 30 day window... I doubt it though. She likes her BB Messenger too much.

I was glancing through the manual and noticed the area on tethering. Don't most cell manuals have a disclaimer in there saying tethering might not be available on all vendors or might have a additional cost associated with it.

Do you think that means tethering will be included?

In the really new verizon email it did say "It's time to share" & "let's get social"
maybe the share line relates to microsoft, and the social line pertains to the incredible since it has friendstream and all..

The "Pink" phones are for social networking:

"The phones would be targeted at heavy users of social network sites, according to the person who asked not to be identified as the devices have not yet been announced. "

I bought the storm 1 the day it came out and was eligible to upgrade with the NE2 in July (I think). I sent them an email via my verizon asking about my upgrade options (knowing I was only eligible for the yearly upgrade), mentioned how disatified I was with the storm 1, and they went ahead and moved my NE2 up to that day (moving it up about 4-months). It is worth a try since the storm 1 is such a piece of junk. I think they are more likely to try to keep you satisfied.

but maybe mention that you're thinking about getting a droid or a pre. for sure don't mention the incredible. they're trying like heck to move their droids and pre pluses right now.

just sayin'.

btw, hi everybody. another lurker registering in anticipation of the phonegasm to come. i love all of you. carry on.

slightly OT... Again, I am pretty much finished... Just need some helps on APPS, if anyone could write on my wall applications known to use battery life I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

The company you are referring to is Seido

This sucks. It looks like Verizon's announcement on Monday will definitely have to do with the stupid Microsoft Phones. Just look at the invite Microsoft sent out.

Microsoft invites us to mystery event, April 12th! (update: for Pink phones?) -- Engadget

Same tag lines as the VZW e-mail. Hopefully they announce the Incredible too.

Not gonna happen. MS has sunk a ton of dough into these phones and are not going to share the spotlight with a competing mobile OS provider.

I know there are no definitive answers about tethering the Incredible right now, but let's assume for a minute that I'll be able to do it. If I can get halfway decent speeds, I might consider cancelling my home internet service. The problem is, I use quite a bit of bandwidth and can easily see myself exceeding 5GB. Does the 5GB limit still exist for supposedly "unlimited" data? I read contradictory information when I did a Google search.

Not really sure why MS is even releasing these phones they won't run any version of WM but since they're made from Danger, the people who made the Sidekicks I guess that's really the market they are trying to get to, preteens and teens.

Ok, I overstated.

My understanding is that webkit is a leading platform for HTML5 implementation. As an example, QuakeII has been demoed running on Safari and Chrome. They do not mention any other browsers.

Firefox is not being as aggressive implementing features that are still being debated. HTML5 is not yet finalized.
Quake runes in FF just fine. The devs didn't want to demo it because they felt that FF's JS performance made the game unplayable. Thankfully there's a pretty spiffy JS engine coming out with 4.0 - it should provide a sizable boost in speed.

It has nothing to do with HTML5 support.

Those teens are an untapped market - the parents don't want to drop crazy money on the phones, and the gaudy plastic housing resonates with them.

Verizon doesn't have unlimited any more for broadband, just 5gb. I have unlimited and I spoke with a csr and was told never to give it up.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a class action lawsuit yet. If you look on their website, there are no disclaimers when they advertise for unlimited data. There is a disclaimer for the unlimited voice and text, but not for the data.

sorry to sound like a idiot, but i'm new to some of this.
what is the purpose of getting a invite to GV ? is this something that is needed?

It was never really "unlimited". It was in the sense that you could go over 5gb, they'd just charge you for it. Think of it like voice minutes. You had 450 minutes on your plan. They didn't cut you off after 450, it just cost you. What they do with the data plans is they charge your per MB and also rate limit you.

Now, this is all in the context of paid tethering plans. For smart phones, there was no 5gb bucket, so in theory you will never be charged for anything over 5gb. This is what all the people who use PDAnet are counting on.

Why would verizon announce an HTC Android phone at a Microsoft event that they are not infact hosting?

They wouldnt. But, like NKT mentioned, another announcement later in the week is a possibility. Why wouldnt VZW want to use the steam from Monday to announce yet another new phone?

Imagine how long my heart skipped a beat just now I when I saw this email in my inbox. Note the first word in the body.
