Except then wouldn't everything go over the data lines and nothing over voice? Which means no longer would you have a limit to only talking or only using data.
 
there's a limit to data usage on a smart phone? news to me. i run over 5g all the time.

tethering of course. i doubt data for skype wouldn't be much.

Not what I meant. What I meant was that if talking through skype you're using data and not voice right? Hence you could be talking to someone and browsing the web at the same time. I was referring to now you are limited on Verizon to one or the other.
 
i get it. Not anything we aren't already used to i guess. would be nice to lower my plan down though. the 69.99 deal sounds good.
 
Yup. I guess so. And lets me honest, Sense will run extremely smoothly on a Nexus. It's so optimized.
 
Rooting and flashing ROMs aren't amazingly simple, but there are numerous videos on how to flash ROMs and root the nexus one.
 
Jesus, please let us use the N1 on a family plan. I don't mind ordering it from google sight unseen, but just please let me use it on my family plan.

how big of a risk is it? as far as, well, turning it into an expensive toy phone for my 3 yr old

I also think they are just "guessing" for lack of a better term. The N1 is appealing to me also, my buddy has one and I think he is annoyed with how often I mess around on it. But if this no family plan thing carries over to Verizon, I dont feel like going out of my way to get it. (meaning buying it unlocked or putting it on a plan by itself)

I truly hope the Incredible is in the running for when I plan on getting a new phone.

haha my thoughts exactly daveydog. I have heard stories of things going wrong while trying to root and phones getting "bricked" causing the phone to not work properly, not work at all in some cases. I dont know how likely that is to happen or how often it can happen at all, but it makes me feel like it wouldnt be worth the risk!
 
If you guys don't feel comfortable rooting, which I fully understand, than I suggest you wait for the Incredible. Sense UI really makes a phone, trust me.

Maybe beautiful widgets installed on N1 would suffice for now...

well, then when the incredible comes out, i'll either sell the N1 or buy the incredible and keep the N1 as a back up.... I have 2 upgrades burning a hole in my pocket... we'll see...

i'll have to do some more investigating on the N1 interface... dont get me wrong, I think even with that potentially ugly back, I prefer the incredible, but the wait is getting old...
 
I don't think I missed this, but when do people think the N1 will even come out?

I had read Spring, and technically spring runs from 3/21 to 6/21, so I don't think it is a given that it will be out much earlier than the Incredible even if that date is true.

Also, I don't think N1 will be eligible for upgrade or family plan, but that is just a gut feeling.

From many of the rumors I have seen, most think it will be towards the beginning of spring. (March/April) BUT youre right. It could be anytime up until June. No way to know until official news comes out. I think your gut feeling is right unfortunately. So the Incredible might be the phone for me by choice and/or default.
