***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

If those specs are accurate, then I see something big. This is the closest thing to "iPhone Killer" (damn that phrase is lame) that you can get. I could see teasers though, "Something Incredible is coming to Verizon on 3/23/10" etc. blah, blah. with no info. Teasers of sorts and then a full blown announcement at CTIA.

Yeah I am thinking so too. I just don't know if VZW is gonna drop a cool 100 mil (thats how much right?) on advertising like they did the droid. But I would expect something catchy/intriguing

Flame...sorry.

If all you want is confirmed news please check the main phandroid.com page and don't bother with this thread. For the rest of us this is the virtual watercooler to vent, biitch, complain, speculate, cry, cheer, high five, sleuth, postulate, theorize, exchange ideas, network, chat, etc... The sheer size of this thread speaks to its success and broad acceptance so i encourage all who don't feel comfortable here to look for a more appropriate place for their needs.

post of the week.

I agree that it will definetly be big marketing, but I don't think they need the build up like they did with the Droid.

Moto Droid was their first trip into the Android world, and most of the commercials focus more on the features that Android OS provides than anything phone specific (hence the name Droid, advertise OS and phone at same time).

So assuming they use a name like "HTC Droid Incredible," most people would realize its an update to the droid and wouldn't really need any sort of acclimation to the concept (in contrast to the orientation to Android OS in general with the Droid release).

All I'm saying is they don't need significant build up. They obviously could do it again though, and in the end I certainly believe the marketing campaign will be on a Major scale given those specs.

OK, here's going back and analyzing a little info which has already been shared, but hey sometimes past info can refresh some stuff. A while ago they found an HTC roadmap which accidentally left a stray reference to the Incredible. This roadmap picture came from a post in the XDA developers forum which stated the following:

Bravo

HTC's hero model of Q1-Q2 of 2010 , a real flagship with exceptional specs and characteristics, will be named as "HTC Bravo". Rumors wanted this device with loads of different names (Passion/Dragon) and specs, but below you will see its original fotos allong with up-to-now specs. Bravo supposedly will follow the same good recepie as happened with Leo (HD2) and we can say, that if HTC had something in mind about an Android version of Leo, then Bravo is the one.

Representative of the Performance (and not by chance
wink.gif
) category based on HTC's categorization it has fantastic style and design, eqquiped with the sucessive killer Snapdragon QSD 8250 1GHz CPU (as in Leo), HD 720p Video caprure, 3.7" WVGA AMOLED screen, 256RAM (guess it will be increased to 512Mb accoridng to my latest inside nfo) with 16GB MicroSD card in-box, and 1400mAh battery capacity and HTC Sence of course, is certainly what eveybody would like to own, considering that will b loaded with the latest Android OS possible at that time. HTC's "killer phone" as they call it, will definately face on its way and will have to compete, Rachael X10i SE and time is left to tell what the results will bring to light
wink.gif
And as HTC's latest moto is about their new 2010 portfolio, i will inheritate and say, "I want it NOW" Arriving April 2010.
A couple of things to note in there

256RAM (guess it will be increased to 512Mb accoridng to my latest inside nfo)
Arriving April 2010.
I know that this is nothing groundbreaking, but a few nice things to think about.

Edit: And Yes I'm aware that the Bravo is now equal to the Desire, but that phone was originally spec'd for only 256 Ram as well.

^^^ Wasn't there an article online that showed the "Bravo" and they kept referring to it as the Incredible?

God let's all hope so. I'm about pitch this d@mn Samsung SCH-i760 in the trash. "Windows: Life without Walls" my @$$!! How about "Android: Life without Windows"!!! :D

My SCH-i760 crashed last July. I had downloaded Skype on to it when I traveled to the Bahamas and when I crossed back into my home coverage area the thing just crashed. My contract was up in August and couldn't see paying the 50 bucks for replacement. I will never own another winmo product or should I say on Verizon. The two of them lock everything down on a phone.

So does not marketing or letting people know when they can get devices. Easiest way to get more subscribers without actually having the device available is to let them know how long they have to wait.

True, but lets look at VZW's recent history (Moto Droid notwithstanding). Eris was announced like two days before launch. They totally dropped the ball with the Palm Pre and Pixi marketing - first not really admitting that they existed, then marketing just to Mom's and finally a half-a**ed attempt at "Synergize" your life (or something like that).

Eris really hasn't been marketed much until recently as a BOGO since they want to clear them out. It seems like if you go to a VZW store, if you don't like the size/feel of the Droid or it's keyboard or vanilla Android, they can say -"Here try this other Droid phone". It's default success because it's the only other Android phone in the store.

If you go to the link in my first paragraph it shows scanned shots of the different parts of the brochure.

Damn I didn't even see the link, had to do a double take lol, thanks.

So I'm confused with all the HTC names. The bravo isn't a real phone? The bravo turned into the desire? and the Incredible will be a variant of the desire?

From what I can tell, that seems to be correct.

Edit: Another reason this seems to be the case is because the HTC tester who was posting "Taken With a HTC Bravo" pictures magically turned into "Taken With a HTC Desire" on March 3rd.

The Devour has been announced but not officially released for sale. Correct me if I'm wrong but its not on the verizonwireless.com site and I thought the official release date is the 15th.

isnt it already available at best buy?

sorry already established this i see...

The original Bravo specs had it at like only 4.4" high, 2.2" wide and .4" thick. Pretty close to the Desire specs, 4.7" high, 2.36" wide, .47" thick.

I really hope the Incredible falls into that spec. range and is only like 4.5-4.8 ounces. Combine that with black on black and I'll be heading to my VZW store on launch day during my lunch break. I might not go back to work haha

Exactly.....which is why they should be marketing more and more. Maybe I am crazy but every company has differentiators and while the actual coverage/service is that it's not the biggest (IMO). That would be the devices. If that wasn't the case then companies would only have 1 phone per line (dumb, feature and smartphones) and market the hell out of their networks BUT THEY DON'T.

It's just the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Just my stupid opinion though.

A little OT, but I think the general consensus of this thread is that most people hate Steve Jobs (but like Mac comps).

On Sun's Looking Glass Program, which was similar to Mas OS X.
Steve Jobs to Sun CEO Jonathan Schwartz.
[If you move forward to commercialize it,] I'll just sue you."

Schwartz response?
Steve, I was just watching your last presentation, and Keynote looks identical to Concurrence
