Are you trying the htc wifi update under the update menu?
 
htc update gone...and att update constantly says server error.....since day 1....excelent batterylife boost....wtf is up with the updates now...another thing ive noticed is now when i deleta a pic(from SD)...it dosent fully delete...gotta do it twice...very fing annoying since my card was full(thought i deleted items) rook a pic of my sons first day of school.....didnt save...#FAIL SN bbc news "when algorithms rule the world" read it, must have info:eek:

I just updated my Inspire today. Didn't even know about it. I just hooked it up to my laptop & used internet pass-through & then after a min or so it said there was an update. Didn't wipe anything out. Even left my text conversations. But know I can only txt the ppl that I already had a conversation with. People will msg me or I will try to start a new convo & it won't send the msg. I recommend u wait till they fix the bugs. Also keyboard while txting will drop randomly. Also heard on other Inspires that battery life is worse, camera pictures aren't coming out clear & it will say u have voice mail when u truly don't. I recommend waiting a bit till they fix at least the things u use most. But everything else is great on the update, just need to fix the major glitches & polish it up.
 
Quick question: When I get the update when I get my phone, will it do it automatically? Can it be done via Wifi or does it use 3G and does that take data off my data plan?

You will have to be on wifi. And to have the phone search for the update do menu-settings-att software update-htc wifi update.

Good. This is extremely irritating. I get a text message and I have no clue who it is because it only shows a number at random times. The only work around is to guess who it is from (if not part of an on going conversation), find the person in your contacts, go into edit the contact, and hit save. And the name again appears in the text message app.

I even tried adding a 1 to the numbers, the + sign, taking away the plus sign. And it always comes back randomly. I wonder if it depends on if the number is under your phone or your Google account?

Is there a Google Code issue for this to vote up?
 
i recently installed the update over the air a week or so ago. at first it ran smoothly, but within a few days it got really laggy. htc sense has crashed at least five times, as well as other programs...i had never experienced a crash with froyo once. in addition battery life is noticeably worse especially when idling. is there any way i can uninstall the update?
 
Is everyone that is having the text/contact problem using the stock text app? I'm using handcent and my husband is using go sms and neither one of us is having this problem.

I am using the stock. It seems like a problem caused by HTC since the text messaging worked fine with Froyo. Also, if they are working on an update (as they should be), they need to throw in the CRT sleep animation too! How could they leave the best part of Gingerbread out!?!
 
I also installed Go launcher and its still runs great no lagging at all...not to mention battery life is also improved big time i get at east 7-8 extra hours no bull shit by using "juice defender ultimate" and "battery doctor"...all together lasts about 2 days with moderate use ...
 
coming from an iphone i loved my htc inspire. after the new update im really not happy. im thinking of going back to an iphone when it comes out. android use to be open source, now its not.
 
when is HTC going to send out a update for the gingerbread? nothin but problems since updating and when i called att they offered me a refurbished phone should i take that or wait for the HTC updated GB to come around?

I am having that problem it only shows the number at times in the convo any way to resolve this? :confused:
 
Ugh.. I just downloaded the new update a week ago and ever since then, my contacts are messed up.. when i get a text it only shows up the number, I have to click on the blank picture and go to view contact, in order to see who it is.. I constantly go to save to existing contact and resave it but then it constantly does the same thing.. I have finally given up.. every person that text me, now just shows the number.. someone help.. how do i fix it or get the update off..

Leave it be! Don't update until you see consistent good reviews of GB 2.3

Is there a new update available? I used to get a notification about the recent one and it stopped for a while, about two weeks in time. Now I got a notification again. Does anyone know?

Same exact problem with friends phone, not cool at all!
