Official "I JUST ORDERED THE NEXUS 5!!!" Thread

Mine finally shipped yesterday night! It is expected to arrive by tomorrow night!!! It is already in my state and fairly close. I am so excited and just a little over a week after I ordered it. (was expected to leave warehouse in 2-3 weeks so it beat that)
 
Hey everyone on the N5 forum! I am moving over from the Evo V 4G (aka Evo 3D) on Virgin Mobile, to the 32gb Black N5 with T-Mobile. Yes I am paying nearly double my old bill, but those 4G speeds! And truly unlimited 4G at that. Ordered my phone February 17, was told it would ship on March 7th, and then got confirmation it had been shipped on Feb 22! UPS was kind enough to leave my $450 (after tax) phone on the porch for anyone to snatch, luckily I got home from work and it was still there. Been enjoying it for about a week now. Had it rooted straight out of the box but still rocking the stock ROM with Xposed/GravityBox tweaks.
What I love is just about everything, the sheer speed of the thing is just incredible coming from the Evo 3D. The size of the screen.
What I'm getting used to is having buttons entirely on-screen - a first for me. Also I wasn't fond of the KK retiring the Menu button, but I have to say I'm adjusting to it pretty well. I don't notice it much anymore except in certain apps. I didn't like having the Home bar there ALL THE TIME but that was easily fixed with an Xposed module that forces Immersive Mode at all times (swipe up or down to bring top and bottom bars back on screen).
The only ONE thing that I really hate is not having a charging LED. Every phone I've ever had (even pre-smartphone) has had some kind of notice to tell you that the phone is charging, and when it has finished charging. I think there are some ROMS that have this cooked in and I will be experimenting with different ROMs soon. It'd be cool to have it in a kernel that I could flash to any ROM but I haven't read about any yet. My current sort-of fix is using LightFlow to monitor my battery status. I say sort-of because unless I'm imagining things ever since I installed it my battery life is getting sucked dry. Oh well. Still makes me wonder why Google/LG bothered putting in a brilliant multi-colored LED and then not to use it for anything.
 
If a custom ROM doesn't fix the LED issue, I use Light Manager and it works great. I use it for charging status as well as different colors for different notifications. Totally customizable solution.

Lol...why? This is a I Just got Nexus 5 Thread! And why wouldn't you just wait for the S5

As for me,,just to reiterate ...Nexus 5 at the end of the day is probably the best all around phone hands down for the price,,EVER! Had mine since the beginning and it amazes me all the time when compared to other high end devices, just most recently next to the HTC M8, how a $399 phone competes and actually bests a $650/700 phone is beyond me, but the nexus does surprisingly, and just makes me say to anyone interested, YOU CANT GO WRONG...lol, just my 2 cents.

I thought the same thing. I switched from an s4 to the nexus on launch. Both great phones but there's just something about a nexus. Plus like you said the price for what you get makes me feel like I got a great deal!

Mostly due to the fact that my provider has certain services I need that they would not allow on it since it wasn't bought by them..

Other than that I really liked it, but I like the S4 equally. As for the S5... I just didn't want to pay $700+ for it lol
 
Ordered mine from google play store this morning and they already shipped it this evening. UPS has scanned it in Kentucky, so it shouldn't take vary long to get to Florida.

Next I'll get to find out how much trouble it is to get Virgin Mobile to give my number to T-Mobile...

Update: Showed up on Apr 3rd (2 days after I ordered it). Seems to be working OK, and even had about a 90% charge out of the box. It was already running 4.4.2, but needed updates to 15 or 20 apps. Won't know for sure the phone works till I get the SIM card.

I ordered the 32GB version, and the Storage setting reports 26.76GB of total space with 25.98GB available.
 
I ordered a black 16GB model from the Play Store that a friend will be bringing me from the US in a few weeks. I'm getting antsy! It will get rooted first thing, and then I'll have the burden of choosing a custom kernel and ROM for it. :)
 
I ordered the 32GB White one last week. It arrived last night. The thing is amazingly gorgeous. Now it sits on my desk waiting for my contract to run out so that I can activate it and actually use it.

Rooting now... Am I the only one that loves the new phone smell?

I too love the feeling of opening a new box and seeing the new untouched beauty sitting there! Hahaha. Enjoy ur nexus! Had mine since launch and still love it!
