Official Lollipop Release Dates

TL;DR - For CM12s, 3/30. For OxygenOS 3/27.

Hey friends,

We know there is a lot of excitement in the community surrounding the Lollipop updates for the One, and for good reason. We are just as excited as you are.

We never intended to keep you waiting. Unfortunately, we ran into some unexpected roadblocks. First, there was an unforeseen OS signing issue, which has recently been resolved. Our camera module had stability issues on Lollipop, and we had to rebuild it for compatibility. Several other crucial drivers, including our Wi-Fi drivers, also needed to be updated to work flawlessly with the upgrade. Admittedly, it took a little more time than we had planned, but we only release updates that we are proud of; that means refusing to take shortcuts or deliver sub-par experiences.

With all of that in mind, here are the official release dates for Android Lollipop on the OnePlus One:

CM 12S: The official OTA update for the OnePlus One will be released on or before March 30, 2015

OxygenOS:
The official release of our own Lollipop-based ROM will be available for download on or before March 27, 2015

To show you how serious we are about this commitment to our community, we are prepared to put our money where our mouth is. If we miss either one of these deadlines, we will give away five (5) 64GB OnePlus One devices to our fans. Reply to this thread to be eligible.

It’s our little way of saying thank you for being patient and for joining us on our journey to create amazing, user-driven experiences.

Never Settle.

Man, every time I go to "Like" something I almost accidentally hit report. I cant believe I am still not used to that. Back on topic though, thanks for the heads up. I wont be trying either of these out but it's nice to tell the wife when she will be getting her update!

Oh well I guess now we have the chance to win a OPO (EVEN THOUGH WE ALREADY OWN ONE) lol.
Doubt I'd buy from OP again tbh. Opo is an astonishing device but after care seems to suck

Haha, true. I have never had to deal with a phone's warranty and so far, that holds true for this phone and I hope it stays that way. The amount of development for this phone, along with its price and specs is above and beyond what I could have asked for. That alone will let me keep their next phones in the running. Although, I do not believe we will continue to see their phones reach this same level of "bang for your buck." Now to go back to their warranty/support - This is the reason I do not recommend this phone to people who are not experienced with phones/technology. It's not worth it to them. I love the phone and the communities around it but the support from OPO is incredibly lackluster and not trustworthy. If the company is still around when I need an upgrade, I'll give them a look but I expect to see better companies doing more to take a market share of the "performance for the price" market which could kill this company.

Been a while since I've had a 1+1,but I too am keeping an eye open for the sequel & the lower-priced segment of the flagship-class smartphones in general.(Anxiously awaiting the US version of the ASUS ZenFone2 [4GB RAM/64GB on-board storage +SD Card slot, est MSRP $350],for example)........

Here's the latest from OnePlus. I'm glad they are being more informative and transparent.

UPDATE 3/28
We stress tested our OTA system and found a couple issues that our devs are fixing now. Some localization fixes from yesterday were tested and verified. Have a nice weekend!

UPDATE 3/29
Hi all, happy Sunday! We are working with our partners to resolve the remaining certification issues as soon as possible.

UPDATE 3/30
Hope everyone had a good weekend! Regarding OxygenOS: we have resubmitted a build for certification and are now waiting to hear back from our partner. We won't know right away but of course we'll keep updating you daily.

And today's update from OnePlus:
UPDATE 3/31
Unfortunately, CM12 won't be OTAing today due to certification issues as well. All parties are working together to resolve the problems as soon as possible. I understand the frustration and we will definitely be more careful with our ETAs in the future.

Fair enough I suppose, they're keeping us in the loop. So I'm guessing cm12 will be an ota and oxygen will be an image?

Although I like the transparency, this right here is a bad choice of wording - "Hopefully we will learn from past mistakes." Really shouldn't be a hopefully there unless they plan to forget this whole incident and act like it never happened. It takes more work to not learn from a mistake.

I like how I don't have to check the OP forum anymore, just get the goods from Cafe here.

At least buy the man a beer for his troubles.......... ;) :D

So OnePlus, who has had problems with stocking and ETAs and making promises they could not keep release a rom which will be shortened to OOS (OxygenOS/OutOfStock). Somehow, I see that as very fitting. I will start playing around with this next week.
