Official - My Droid Razr is here!!! thread

How are people finding the battery so far? Just so far battery doesn't seem fantastic. It's been unplugged for about 5 hours. Got friendcaster and gmail set to push, pulse checks for news. Also, winamp was on for about 25 mins, and seemed to use quite a bit of battery. I got the phone wednesday and conditioned the battery 2 times. Screen is on 40-50% brightness.

Does this seem reasonable? I've switched from wp7, so don't really know. Also, all this was on mostly 3G with with a little wifi.

Maybe I missed it, hard to say without knowing where your battery % was after that... ;)

Finally got mine... seeing an immediate, and significant, improvement in reception all the way around over the Bionic. Everything else is what's already been reported. Screen colors are more accurate than the Bionic (though sometimes a bit washed out), and gradients, etc, fade well, but it's not as bright. Viewable in sunlight, but with some effort.

One weird thing... when I was driving back to my office I noticed it wasn't on 4G. I opened the browser, and it said "turning on Wifi" and immediately switched to 4G. Maybe that's some default Smart Actions setting? Seems like it could be beneficial from a battery saving standpoint...

3G to 4G handoff worked great. I went into a condo buildings underground basement switched over to 3G opened phandroid app, started typing this message and walking back out. By the time I have finished typing this post 4G popped back up. Give or take a minute.

Going back down for second run...........

2nd run same thing. Zero issue with handoff. So far so good. Will report back if I run into any issues.

Yeah so far in the one hour I've had it the few times it's needed to hand off it's been seamless, and great... wonder if Smart Actions is the culprit for the "turning on wifi" thing though - trying to dig into this thing while at work is tough... ;)

OK... I've definitely decided that Android Forums is bad for my savings! :p

Last night I went over to my nearby Verizon store to chat with a friend... two minutes after I walked in the door my friend walked over to me and handed me a Droid Razr box. He told me this one has my name on it... and I need to be back in the morning to pick it up! Don't ya just hate friends who enable bad habits!

Needless to say I just got back from the Verizon store with that box in tow. I'm now the proud owner of a Droid Razr. My better half isn't gonna like this much but I'm planning a little surprise for her too... her OG Droid is about dead so I'm thinking a brand spanking new DINC2 might be in order for her (she needs a small phone!).

This hobby is getting much too expensive! I wonder if the Verizon store needs some part time help!! :D

man that's the truth... and the Inc2, imo, is the best 3g-only phone on the market - it's truly "incredible"...

Go to wifi networks and uncheck the setting there.

I'm heading over to Verizon right now for a case and to see the hoopla if any.

Congrats Martimus you are going to love this thing.

Droidette I miss a good keyboard but the on screen keyboard is beautiful and nice on the RAZR. Smooth haptic feedback. Not intrusive just very subtle.

So far it sounds like there hasn't been any hoopla, so I'll be curious!

At the Best Buy I got it, I was the only one sitting there waiting (for about 10 minutes) until 11:11 - they were given strict instructions to not even open the boxes until 11:11...

I'm here right now being locked out lol.. there is about 12 of us waiting a few are here for just service.

Sorry, about 55%

Maybe a little low, but I'd give the battery a few more days to get up to speed. But 11-12(projected) hours before needing a charge is fairly reasonable for one of the phones. Especially if you were on 4g the whole time..

Although on mine on 4g for about an hour today, the rest on wifi, phone off charger for 5.5 hours, little use though, maybe a few texts and a few(10-15) minutes playing around and I am at 90% still.

I just picked up mine so far so good. Paid only $249.00 plus I got a bundle for $67.00 which included
Case
Car charger
screen protector
External charger
ear buds
Not a bad deal!

Hmmmm? Making it tuff for me....lol

Well Arron from Phone Dog has his full review up, and its mainly positive!

Ok brother, I'm gonna grab one tomorrow and see what the fuss is about...hehehe.

No harm in putting it through the paces this weekend and giving it a whirl.

Peeps get ready...I'm gonna see if the Razr can really live up to this hype.

Trust me ul love it... everything works great.. just need to test the camera now ... :P

My experience getting my Droid RAZR today:

Went to the Verizon Experience store in the mall. Arrived at 9:50 am (stores open at 10:00 am). They had a table set up outside the store with some demo units and different cases. 10:00 am came and they wouldn't even open the store, even for people returning cable boxes, wanting other phones, etc. Put my name on The List (I was #1). They said they had plenty. Probably about 2-3 others there at the time. Went and walked around the mall and came back at 11:00 am. By this time, probably about 8-10 people were on the list.

11:11 am comes and they let us in and start calling names. Took about 20 minutes for my rep to activate and check me out. I got an HD Dock, HDMI cable, screen protectors, and High Gloss silicone case. All told, about $400 out the door.

Everything seems great so far. Got all my apps installed and settings configured. Wicked fast, beautiful screen, fast charging, THIN and LIGHT. You really have to hold one of these to appreciate how thin and light it really is. Absolutely fantastic coming from a T-Bolt with extended battery!

Motocast is awesome. Access to all my photos, files, and music stored on my iMac from anywhere. Even got Motoprint to find my printer connected to a PC on my network.

Nothing to report on battery life until I've gone through a couple complete charges/discharges.

Overall, very happy with my choice of going with the RAZR.

I just brought my new baby home!!!

Checked it out at Best Buy before dinner. Thought about it while managing to keep the kids from killing each other in the restaurant. Talked DH into driving to the nearest VZW store and dropping me off (can't do serious phone shopping with kiddos in tow).

Went to the RAZR display and promptly got out my OG for hardcore comparisons. Took 3 pics (near, mid, far) with both to compare quality. NO comparison. OG is 5 Mpx, RAZR is 8 Mpx. RAZR is super sharp, great color, very nice pictures. (side note: maybe the reason the Gnex is only 5 Mpx is because it has no SD card so has to save memory and doesn't want to clog up with 8Mpx pics?)

Actually swapped out my OG SD card and popped it into my new RAZR and VOILA all my stuff is there!

Display is awesome. Couldn't be happier. Don't notice pixelation or any res problems others feared.

Super fast!

So funny story - there were some other customers at the display and they seemed general pubic type, mumbling about specs and such, and one turned to me to ask what I was doing (serious comparison with OG experiments going on) so I ran through the pros/cons, specs of the top Android platform phones, what's coming out next week, and why I was about to choose the RAZR. The three store reps standing there were like "do you want a job?" LOL

I do note it "het up" a bit, even though I read all the feedback here about it, it still took me a bit by surprise. Not "hot" but definitely warmer than the OG ever got.

Edit: DH is jealous, his contract renewal is next summer MWAHAHAHAHAHA

Just joined the club :) This phone is awesome!! (so far, so good)

So thin, so light.....hardly noticeable when in your pocket! The screen does seem a little more dim than my X when on auto brightness, but it also seems easier on my eyes. 4G is stupid fast, can't believe the difference.

Got the car dock and screen protectors, but no case for me.....it's too pretty to hide. Motocast is great, very easy to setup. Battery performance seems decent, will have to watch it for a few days to get a real feeling for it.
