Help [Official] OTA update thread

So I am on LYM47M 5.1, EE in the UK. Will we ever get the 5.1.1 update? Looking at the factory images they are for certain networks. U.S by the looks of it.

I recall reading that while the image files for LYM47Z state they are for Sprint or U.S. Cellular (USC) only, it is also the global GSM variant. I'm using it on AT&T with no problems.

It seems weird to me that the 5.1.1 update is only being pushed state side. I brought a N6 to get the latest updates fast...

I am willing to wait a while longer to see if they do release the update via OTA.

While I did get the OTA notification, I flashed the factory image because I was rooted with custom recovery, so the OTA wasn't much good to me. Not sure why the global versions don't get get notified right away.

So you've all probably heard about the stagefright bug by now, its gotten quite a bit of press recently:

Google has fixed the glitch and is rolling out a fix via over the air updates and has also posted the factory images for those who do not want to wait:

Build 5.1.1 (LMY48I)

Its also interesting to note we have a unified build now. No more specific versions for specific carriers.

Got the OTA last night. So far so good. I am sideways hoping it helps with my other issues since the 5.1.1 update

Short of installing a custom ROM how can I disable OTA update notifications? I tried freezing a few things (Google told me to) but that didn't seem to work.

You don't have to have a custom rom but root it is very helpful using an app like fotakill or the like.

you will get the update notifications period. going to a ROM is the best way. I think the fotakill app requires a rooted stock rom....

Update broke my data connectivity....which does block MMS...so problem solved?

:thumbsdowndroid:

All data? or just mobile data (can you still connect to WiFi?)

Hmmm, did you modify your APN at all prior to the update? Have any proxy apps running? I'm trying to figure out why it would have borked your data.
