Official Pink Floyd Thread

When I was married, my X received the entire boxed set of Pink Floyd from a close friend for his birthday. I was able to rip the entire thing into FLAC format, so I have it.

I really enjoy PF. Animals and The Division Bell are my two favorites.

FYI the whole Pink Floyd catalog was remixed/remastered in 2006 and again in 2011. Since ripping and keeping bit-perfect copies of music CDs that you no longer own is against the law, and above all not fair to the artist, now would be an excellent time to buy the fresh new PF albums. IMO the sonic excellence is well worth buying two new copies in 5 years time. So buying one CD for each album should be a treat! :)

I can't believe I've never noticed this thread before.

I LOVE Pink Floyd. I'm old enough to remember when Dark Side of the Moon made its crazy, 15-something year, record-breaking stay on Billboard.

I still have all my Pink Floyd albums, as in vinyl, including Dark Side.

My favorite Pink Floyd song is Comfortably Numb, but there are many others right up near there. :D

Hi all!
I entered this forum for info on tablets and what do I get to see first? This thread! Thank you. Feeling st home right away :-)
Owning a Rowe AMI R88 jukebox we collect 45 RPMs and no need to tell PF is a favourite.

We attended the R. Waters concert April 9 2011 in the Felredome, Netherlands.
Big fan of Pink Project, an excellent Dutch tribute band.
Another concert is planned in two weeks: Snowy White.

My favorite Pink Floyd experience was listening to the 1986 version of the band play an extended version of that tune while the greatest mirror ball ever stopped spinning, swiveled 90

I'm not deleting that rip. My X and I are still extremely close, and he would have no issues stating legally that I own 50% of those CD's. The majority of every bit of the music I have is on physical CD's sitting in boxes right here in my closet (the image below doesn't even come close to how many music cd's are in this house). I don't share my rips with anyone. They are for my own personal enjoyment.

Hey. I posted a suggestion a couple of days ago, but it seems to be vaporised :-(
I suggested listening to the Norwegian band Airbag. They are very much inspired by PF. Their first album was called All rights removed, second is called Identity.
Please give them a fair try.

Naah... not them...
Search for Airbag songs like "Safe like you" or "White walls" "The bridge" "Never coming home"

Took this video on my now retired Droid X 2 years ago when the played in Southern California we had a box suite close to the stage.

Any one here seen Snowy White live lately? Any good?
Looking forward to his concert this friday :-)

I use to record every concert we go to. It all ends up in youtube. Let's see :-)

Nope, never seen Snowy live. All I can say was that his performance on Rick Wright's "Wet Dream" album was way better than anything I'd ever expect to come out of an ex-Thin Lizzy band member.

Hope the show is great!

I'm a big fan as well. I got introduced to the Dark Side of the Moon when I entered college in 75. I immediately bought the album for myself. I've also gone to the Laser Show at my local planeterium. Check out this YouTube clip which syncs up the album with the Wizard of Oz. Pink Floyd officially denied doing thisdon purpose. Just a happy coincidence I guess. :smokingsomb:

just listened to a version of the dark side of the moon played by a symphony orchestra the other day...and WOW!!! It was incredible.. The violins gave me chills!!

The longer PF tunes do have a theatrical feel to them, so it's understandable why some people would look for parallels even if none exist. My personal favorite, "Echoes", seems like it's telling the story of some sort of odyssey just by the way it sounds. (I rarely listen to the lyrics.)
