It's hilarious that you guys are saying your not buying because of a 20.00 charge. Are you serious? Whats 20.00 when you are already spending 800. Its not like you have to pay 20.00 per month.
Don't forget the $35 vzw activation fee. Sure I can afford it, but i'd rather pay for value, not because vzw/moto think their customers are stupid or have no other options.
The whole data pricing is a moot point. I just looked up verizons return policy.....
"You may terminate service for any reason within 14 days of activation. If you purchased a wireless device at a promotional price at the time of activation, you must return it within the device return period to avoid being assessed an Early Termination Fee of $175, or $350 if you purchased an Advanced Device. You will remain responsible for your Activation Fee unless you terminate service within three days of activation. You will also be responsible for all applicable usage fees, prorated access charges, taxes, surcharges or other charges that accrued to your account through the termination date. If you paid a security deposit, it may take between 30 and 60 days to process the return of your security deposit. The charges for any service used on the account before the service termination date may be applied against your security deposit."
So as long as you cancel within 3 days you get activation fee and cost of data plan minus usage returned. I plan on canceling within 5 minutes, so I should be ok.

It's the principle of the thing. WiFi only iPads are typically cheaper than WiFi + 3G iPads. I can live with the Xoom not having a WiFi only model, but to charge $20 to get online to ACTIVATE WiFi? What kind of crap is that. It's simply a move to try and get people to forget they turned on auto-renewal and get more subscription based money.
I was hoping for $700, but if they want $800 and $20 to activate wireless, I'll wait for the iPad 2 to be announced and keep my eye on the Asus Slider.
As far as I am concerned, I was expecting $699. In any case, for me, I know its better than the top of the line Ipad. Not happy, but I am glad I do not have to buy a contract. I mean really it not much over the cost of a new phone out of contract, and you can go month to month.
My max for a tablet was 800 bucks. I also wanted a case for my tablet, after this is all said and done (providing price is correct) I'm looking at 900 dollars or so. Or I can wait see what apple offers, or another honeycomb tablet that comes down the piple line. Knowing that Apple will bring a fresh product to market means a price drop I bet on this motorola xoom. Do I "need" a tablet right this second that it's worth the early adoption price? I don't think so I'd rather let competition dictate the best deal for me.
Edit: Just read that iPad 2 reveal could happen this week. Could spell disaster for the Xoom if it's beat spec wise, and price. Even if they match specs, and beat them in price it's bad news for Moto.
I don't rly see it this way. Phones are overpriced to begin with.
But the tab is over $300 more then my laptop and Moto isn't even needing to pay for the OS and it has much less functionality with obviously less and cheaper components.
I am curious how many of these will sell because as far as I am concerned its DoA. Now to play the waiting game for Ipad 2 and whatever other Honeycomb tabs coming soon.

One thing I was thinking about last night that could help the Xoom is timing. Right now people are getting there income tax returns. That's extra cash burning in peoples pockets that they otherwise would not have. For some folks it's just disposable income, and why not spend it on a nice new tablet?
