What does it take for Verizon to get a 4G phone that also supports GSM? I'm getting really impatient and almost ready to give in and get the Rezound. But with my luck, they'll come out with exactly what I want 31 days afterwards so I will be outside of my window to return it. Ugh. :(

return period is only 14 days now fwiw...

Sorry Bro!!

If I had to guess it is a problem to mesh the lte radio AND give the phone world capabilities

I read somewhere that the new EVO for Sprint (that either recently came out or is coming out soon, I can't remember which) will have 4G, CDMA, and GSM capabilities.

If you buy at Best Buy, you should have 30 days to exchange, but if you are upgrading and just want to return, you might still run into an issue with Verizon's return policy.

Ahh, yeah I would be upgrading. Could try Wirefly, I suppose. They do upgrades, too.

Yeah, I'm just not sure if you lose your upgrade if you return after 14 days regardless of where you buy. Hopefully someone else knows more about that. Pretty sure an exchange after 14 days at a 3rd party should be fun though.

One Caveat with Wirefly, you have to be on your actual "eligible for upgrade" phase of your contract in order for them to be able to upgrade you. If you're using one of Verizon's "Early upgrades", when Wirefly tries to sell you the phone, they'll say you have to pay full retail. It's one of the little annoyances I found out about last spring when I got my Thunderbolt. Oh and lastly, make sure you read all of Wirefly's fine print because if you contact Verizon for the first few months to make changes to your account, they charge you $300 or so, and if they charge your credit/debit card and you change your mind it takes them about 2 weeks to return the funds to your account.

I would suspect this won't happen on VZW until they drop can CDMA completely on a phone, probably end of 2013 when the LTE roll-out it complete.

That is really interesting; I had no idea. A particular iPhone fanboy friend of mine always raves about how the AT&T iPhone is SO MUCH better than the Verizon iPhone and all Verizon Androids because you can use data while talking on it. So much for that! Well, at least for a couple of the VZ Androids anyway.

To be honest Irish i had no idea either. I've owned the t-bolt since launch. I was on a blog comment section saying it couldn't be done and someone corrected me. No one else said they we're wrong. And this poster seemed like he knew what he was doing. He explained in a smart/Technical way.

So the t-bolt and now Rezound can do Data/Voice while on 3G. and ALL LTE phones can do Data/Voice while on 4G (obviously).

The funny thing though is i could have sworn i tried it once and got the message "can't be performed while speaking on the phone"

Just tried it to see and it worked. I'm on 3G right now

But i was wrong i guess......

I'm sorry. I meant i was wrong to think it DIDN'T do it.

i worded it wrong .........

My T-bolt DOES do Data/Voice

Sorry for the confusion.

Do i still have to 'click' TxGoat............LOL

Does anyone know what the dimensions of the Rezound are? I am interested in LxW, but especially depth since it appears to be relatively bulky. The HTC tech specs page doesn't have them, and VZ doesn't have a page for the phone yet, just a sign-up page.

EDIT: I'm seeing 0.53 - 0.54". That's pretty darn thick. The Nexus is only 0.35" thick, but comes in at a whopping 5.4 x 2.7". Holy Toledo.

Apparently it feels very nice in hand though. Lots of other useful specs here:

The Razr's even thinner at .28" thick.

Dimensions
5.15(h) x 2.71(w) x 0.28(d) inches
Weight: 4.48oz

A phone's thickness hasn't really been that big an issue for me. I remember when they were huge so a few 10ths of an inch won't matter much to me, although having said that I don't want something that looks like a tablet that didn't get enough vitamins. If I had Andre the Giant type hands then that's one thing, but my hands aren't big enough to crush skulls....

I am a little worried that this may be too big for my hands. But the one thing I read was that it didn't seem very heavy so i should hopefully be ok. I don't talk on the phone, it is primarily a texting/internet device so I hope I can get used to it.

If you have little hands then you may not like the feel. Have you ever held a Droid X? It will be similar in size only the ReZound is a bit thicker. I have a Droid X but i'm also a fairly large handed guy so its not an issue with me.

I have not held anything but my Incredible and my DH's crappy Ally. I'm a heavy texter but not with my thumb, even on my incredible i have to use just my index finger. If I get near a store, I will stop in and look at the different phone sizes. My hands get sore fast with spending hours a day at a keyboard, both home and work. That's why I am more worried about weight. I think I can get used to it though. I will try my damndest that is for sure!

The only thin I hate is on my Thunderbolt, when I have it in my hand, if I have to tap on something on the far upper corner, there's a small risk of me dropping the phone because I can't use my finger real well to grip it. As it stands now, I can wrap my fingers around the Thunderbolt and touch my fingers to my thumb with a little to spare, but moving up on the screen my grip gets a little insecure since I have to lighten my grip to scale up the screen. Not really a big deal though since if you're texting one handed (keep the cracks to yourselves smartarzes!! :p ) in portrait mode the keypad falls to the bottom or if you're in landscape mode you tend to grip it 2 handed.
