Whats the battery life like on 2.2? For some reason im gettin poor performance on my 2.1, I feel like it was better about a week ago, i mean im dropping like 15% in an hour and 45 mins with very minimal to no use [and no live background]...if this normal? Im only running a few things [ADW Launcher EX, beautiful widget, battery widget, noLED, messenger widget and widgetoid are like the only things, besides all the preinstalled crap that opens]. Also I notice when I open my text messanges, it opens Mobile IM, City ID, Google Voice, Task Manager, Voice Commands..every time and when I goto try and use Skype, when i type nothing appears [like theres isnt enough free memory] and i have to hit my task killer, reopen the message and it work [till all that crap opens again and I have to kill tasks again]...anyone else have this problem? I mean i also get lag when recording videos [you can see frame lags in the view finder and when I record the audio gets a little lagged as well]....its like being back on the Eris!

Per the Samsung Galaxy S twitter feed. "Froyo is indeed coming for the Fascinate. We just don't know when."

I love that they can't give us a date for our high end Galaxy S phones but per Samsung Romania the I-5500 and I-5800 (the models offer cpus of 600 mhz and 667 mhz) will be receiving Gingerbread updates by the end of March.

I know Verizon has some stipulations about the 2.2 being released and some bug fixes that need to occur but this is down right silly.

Funny thing happened at the Verizon store today... was getting my text plan changed and noticed the Verizon lady also had a fascinate. I said "so do you have any idea when or if the Fascinate will be getting the update to 2.2?" she said "oh, I just got mine a couple of weeks ago, they send it out according to when you got your phone and I got mine right after they came out" I said, "you are talking about Android 2.2, right?" she said "yeah, they roll them out slowly and you should be getting it soon, its a text w/ a link to the download"

Hmmm........ she must be talking about something else entirely.

I would have asked to see her phone and then shown her that she is an idiot.

How would you rank them solely based on stability and reliability?

In my own personal experience I'd still go in that order. But I haven't experienced any SOD issues or anything like that as many have, so that would certainly change things. Also tbh I dont really use gps on my phone and havent even really tested it. Some report horrid gps with ebo1/16 others are ok, so ymmv.

Go back when you get a chance and see if does in fact have 2.2.

I bought my fascinate in November and my first question was "Does it have FLASH". They told me not yet however it will be available by the end of 2010. 5 months into this phone and still nothing. I kind of feel like I was lied to cause the flash was a big deal for me. I really don't like any other phones out right now compared to my fascinate. I have 2 friends that have the DX but I don't care for it much. I hope this update comes to us by the end of this month. It's bad business to promise customers something and then not to deliver. NOT COOL when most are locking up a contract for 2 years.

^yep, sadly my 30 days just ended. So I'm locked into the Fascinate for 2 years. Although I don't mind. I love my phone. The only complaint I currently have, is the occasional phone call quality...and my signal can act funny at times. Other than that, this phone rocks! Even w/ 2.1! I love the feel & look of it. The screen is amazing. The camera takes great pics. It's fast enough for me. Just the tinny sound at times on a phone call (which I don't make lots of), and the signal issue. Mainly on WiFi anyways. So that stuff isn't deal breaking.

Unless your Fascinate is defective, I'd suspect signal/tower proximity, conditions such as weather/wind, buildings etc.

You can test that by noting where the issue happens, after going to the Verizon coverage map for the area(s) you use the device for voice calls.

I know where every tower is in the city I use my phone most often, and thus know where I am most likely to experience junky call sound or broken words, etc, so I avoid those places if possible.

If it's happening off and on in exactly the same spot, it is more likely to be something defective in your handset, of course.

Zero in on your area(s):

I noticed the same thing if you leave the wi-fi on and start to get out of range or get home and come into range there is a noise that is heard from the wi-fi. I just turn off wi-fi when I leave and turn it on when I have a good wi-fi signal. It's possible your within range and the phone is in between trying to connect.

i've noticed the same thing with sound quality, even returned a phone to get a new one to see if it would get better. that didnt fix it though. as time goes by i notice it much less.

some noise cancelling mics would be nice though because i often have people telling me how much noise they hear in the background.

Also, on the left side down the side...towards the bottom a bit, there is a weak spot where if I press on the frame/chrome trimming, it creaks and goes in a little bit. Nothing major, at least to me. Can get annoying though when I am unlocking my phone & such while holding the phone. If I have certain cases on it, it goes away. I currently have some mesh/white snap on case that shows the creaking as well.

My wife and I both have Fascinates, and they're both on the 2.2 leak. I personally noticed an improvement in call quality on both ends when I disabled voice privacy.

I think that my wife sounds fine when I call her Fascinate, and I've called myself just to test mine out and it seems to sound pretty good on both ends. It's no Droid X, but the calls come through clear and reliable every day for me. They were fine on 2.1, too.

I've never had a phone (other than the Droid X) that I could make this claim with. I have only dropped TWO CALLS (that were dropped on my end) since I purchased the Fascinate almost six months ago. That is ridiculously good. Even in areas where I have 1 bar and the internet is crappy, calls still go through extremely well.

I had the same creak and it was located right next to the power button. It eventually got worse and if I pressed the power button too hard the screen would flicker or turn off. My refurb doesn't have this problem yet and I hope it doesn't happen again.

I have a battery drain issue I was wondering if anyone else had that I hope Froyo can fix.....I seemed to be getting horrible life from my battery so I did I full drain and then recharged her 100%, then unplugged it again well i slept, and in about 3 hours, screen off, cell standby 19% with 0% time without a signal and with barely any apps running [Beautiful Widget/NoLED/ADWLauncher EX] in those 3 hours it dropped to 86%.....that seems like a lot doesnt it? Is it possible that my battery is just going bad? I've only had this phone like 3 months..... I can't seem to find a remedy and it kills me cuz i cant even make it through an entire day with a full charge
