*** Official Samsung Fascinate Gingerbread 2.3 Speculation Thread ***

So I've been having a few issues and want to know if anyone else is or knows a fix. I used to have 4 "buttons" on the bottom of the screen that stayed there regardless of whether i switched between screens. They were phone, messaging, contacts, and applications, but after GB it seems the messaging button has disappeared. I know that I can get to messages through applications, but it was just so much more convenient to have it there. Anyone know why this happened or how to fix it? I'm also having the same gps problems as everyone else but i don't really care as much as getting my messaging back ha

Go to Applications
Menu>Grid View
Menu>Edit
Drag the messaging App Icon you use to the bottom quick launch area
Menu>Save
All done

I got the 2.3 update forced to my phone and now the camera takes like 2 to 3 seconds for it to take the picture. I use the camera a lot so this is really bad for me. Any ideas of how to fix this? It didn't do this before.

I ODIN-ed the stock EH03 ROM to my phone and lo and behold, my GPS is working again. Yay :) It locks very quickly and I'm pretty happy with it.

Woah! My phone just rebooted itself.... Thought there was a problem, started back up and is running 2.3.5! Thanks Verizon! 12/8 @ 11:38am EST

I'm new to this forum but I came across it after running into A LOT of problems with the new update :( I am not really familiar with all the stuff you all are talking about and I've had the Fascinate for about 7 months.. Anyways-
The day the update (it says its ED05_EH03....2.3.5) came out it took me 3 times to download it. No big deal I didn't have very good service at home. After I finally get the update to install, I lost all my phone contacts (i tried backup and all were saved and it wouldn't retrieve them), Then my husband tried to call me from work several times from 11am until 5pm and never received a call, and for the past 3 days I have not received any phone calls, it rings one and goes to voicemail. NOT MY IDEA of a phone. I do like how my battery last longer, and how must faster it is. But I also noticed the home button on my phone is no longer working I have to hit the back arrow only to get out of everything. Can anyone tell me how to fix these?

I'm not sure If i'll receive updates or not but if I do not respond please email me with any suggestions as Verizon is NO help :( they just want me to do a factory reset for the 2nd time :( Email: partiesbyanj@gmail.com

Thanks In Advance Everyone

Since you are within the 1 yr warranty, I would call VZW customer service and tell them that the update messed up your phone. My daughters Fascinate bricked with the update and they sent me a replacement even though it was several months past warranty.

Mutant-Thank you, I called them last night and since my screen is cracked (My 3 year old dropped it playing a game) they couldn't warranty it, however they did let me go ahead with an Early upgrade at a better price than for new contract. Sucks because I LOVE my Fascinate but they couldn't get me one of those so I went with a Droid X2, I'm going to try it out Hope I Like it! I was on the phone for about 2 hours troubleshooting, factory resets, master resets, and entering in codes with no luck. Thanks for the help!

Hey, is there a way to DL this update and do it manually? I don't have service on my fascinate anymore but I'd like to get the update and mess around with it before putting it on my wife's phone.

Guys, can anyone help me with the update? I'm currently rooted and running and 2.2.1 EC01. Is it true that I cannot update to gingerbread while I'm rooted and running EC01? If I return back to stock, won't I lose all my apps and everything? Any help?

Hi guys this is my first time visiting this forum. I have a fascinate that hasnt got an OTA update since i got it. I currently have it on 2.2.1 only because ive flashed it. do i need to restore it to its original 2.1 to get the update? if so could you point me in the right direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, I do like the update to Gingerbread. The interface is cleaner, the battery life seems to be somewhat better. Definitely a step up :)

I DO have one question...has anyone else had issues with auto-rotation. I have noticed that, at times, my phone will go horizontal screen-wise even when my phone is vertical on a flat surfaces. Has anyone else seen this?

all the time?

all the time?

Nope - it's intermittent.

But here is something strange. I just laid my phone vertically on my desk. I then went into the email app and turned the phone to 90 degrees on the table. It is still showing vertical. But if I pick it up, it goes horizontal (which would be expected behavior, I think). But turning it vertical in my hand does not cause the phone to go back vertical.

It's weird, and it may just be me. But it is something I have observed.
