top half is definitely a smudge magnet which everyone knows, but then again so are the screens of every touch phone. no biggie for me...and I probably won't even be using a case for this. takes away from its form factor IMO
 
so when do you think sprint will officially announce this beast? I have a feeling they will announce it the 18th then release it 2 weeks after that.

that would definitely be a surprise. the 18th is just in too many places for me to think it won't happen on or around that date IMO

No I don't think that will happen! Sprint usually ships in 1 day, and the Sprint rep at the store told I may get mines early but there priority is online orders first! And in this link below shows you that when you order online they will start shipping the phone on the 15th!

The only thing I'm really curious about is when i pre ordered my HTC EVO LTE 4g at 9am on the dot my order receipt like the one shown in that link and a few other posts from users all showed shipping date begins the 15th of May... My order receipt matches all of those except the 15th was left out on mine? And I ordered mine the moment the option was available 9am eastern time so i believe that some did see the 15th but sprint must have fixed it immediately cause mine does not have any specific date :( ???

And now that I think about it lol..if the 15th is when they will start shipping the mass amount of pre orders I highly doubt sprint would also reveal the EVO 4g LTE in stores 3days later (the 18th) which given shipping times for most of us the 17/18th would probably be the day we all received our pre orders which doesn't sit well with me because pre orders as far as my knowledge with sprint and pre orders go like with the g nexus and the EVO 3d they arrived a few days early not by much but a few days early and for sprint to have every EVO 4g LTE light up on the same day(18th) seems a little crazy to me i don't think they would do that to themselfs to prevent any large amounts of issues that may arise around the nation for all new EVO 4g LTE users but that's just my 2cents lol
 
sprint ships overnight so its possible they will begin shipping on the 17th. this would mean stores like BBY would have there stock possibly wednesday or thursday (LTEVO EVE ;-) )
 
True true just seems hard for me to believe they would ship pre orders 3days before from the expected 100% national release day..to me I'd think they would wanna get the pre orders sent out and out of the way so It's less of a mess then a few days later go full swing with the national release but i geuss it depends on how many people they have busting their humps to ensure this goes smoothly :-) Idk but i do know I can't wait to just even have a tracking # that alone will greatly spice up my excitement and checking periodically for it to arrive in my area that will be the best feeling lol
 
And the user guide magically appearing earlier today definitely adds to the eagerness lol but what are the odds that was magically leaked a day after the pre ordering began? Looks odd to me lol

There's a reason why the 18th has been mentioned so often. Look back a few pages for my explanation as to why the 18th is an important date of each month for Sprint, and you will understand that the odds are very high that it will, in fact, be released May 18th. ;)

I'm sure it will be released on the 18th also and my Best Buy receipt says so. But after everything I've read online I'm sure it will be plus 3 Sprint reps told me when I called.

I don't really care about the carousel not being there neither like someone above said but I wish you could still get to the end and keep going to the other side. And it's cool you can delete and not have 7 screens but I need all 7 LOL! I'm still excited about this phone and can't wait to get it. Just hope the battery is decent that's the only ting worrying me but I may end up getting a charging vault.

No. IPS is a technology term. It's used by everyone who makes screens with that technology. It's like the term, steel belted radial. It's a thing. LG's permission being required was made up by an idiot and has become the new urban myth of screens.

SLCD2 and SLCD and Super LCD are meaningless marketing terms, like Green Giant. If I tell you, here's a can of Green Giant, you don't know if you have corn or peas. If I tell you here's an SLCD2, I didn't tell you anything.

IPS = in plane switching, PLS = plane line switching, MVA = multi-domain vertical alignment, all LCD types and there are lots more.

Not until LG buys and licenses the alphabet and sells it back to us, and not one minute sooner, will there be any truth to the idea that LG owns the acronym, IPS. ;)

I dont think it will. Sprint would want to advertise that, just like they did with the GN. I dont think they would not throw that out there if it was going to be included; since, essentially, thats like getting 25% off the phone.. pretty big selling point to leave unannounced. Especially since Sprint is pushing Google Wallet so hard. But, Guess we'll see.

Edit: You got any launch day "surprises" to tell us about regarding the EVO 4G LTE this year?
 
I'm a little confused by those saying big box stores will be getting their phones the day of? Don't we usually see back end inventory screen shots around 3 - 4 days before a big phone is released?

It's not Slashgear saying it, it's HTC. Jeez.

They changed their website for the One X. Now HTC says that has Super LCD.

Love the HTC website. I swear that they plug in whatever the blogosphere wants to see.

The One X screen reports as a Sony model. As I posted earlier, Sony has sold off the last of their display ops to Japan Displays, Inc. along with Panasonic (a big IPS maker) in an effort by Japan to consolidate in order to complete with the Koreans. (Effective last April.)

So, yeah, it's likely that the One X is an IPS display if they come from Japan Displays, Inc.

PS - don't know why anyone cares if it's IPS or not, the idea that IPS = advanced quality came from Apple marketing.

All we care is that they use one good supplier for the display, for all One X variants, in my opinion. ;)
