[Official] Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE Pre-release thread - Sprint official launch is Saturday, June 2

Sorry about that I meant tomorrow as in today.. My store said their expecting them this afternoon.. But we will see what happens... I'm not holding my breath

Damn, I just wrote a long ass response and the database timed out when I hit reply.

Anyway, I'll keep it short...

1. RS called and said that customs/ HTC/ Sprint has not allowed them to release the phone until they "authorized" them to do so.

2. I told her that Bust Buy is already fulfilling pre-orders and their customers already have their devices. She had no answer and was only able to tell me that I'd be first in line once they are given the authority to sell them.

3. With that said, she did not have any idea for a release date and all her information she claims comes only from Sprint or the internet. They also do not know if I'd get my phone prior or on the national release date.

4. I know that my $50 pre-order gift card in non-refundable, but I asked her to escalate my inconvenience the the District Manager who could authorize them to do so.

5. I know that it sounds silly to cancel this pre-order and jump in line somewhere else, possibly even taking longer to get my phone. I can't blame Radio Shack for the delay, but I feel that my money is better spent somewhere else. I just wish that they could put as much effort into customer service as they do in sales.
 
some.devil - If you've got the energy for it, maybe call them back and tell them good news, Radio Shacks nationwide are letting people get their phones today and many already have.

More than one store has accepted our forums, Twitter and other forums as proof at times like this.

I'm happy to say that I have finally picked up my LTEvo from Best Buy! After getting the run around most of the day yesterday, I called the Best Buy Mobile HQ today at 9:45 AM EDT. The canned message about the LTEvo had changed with a prompt to "press 1" for more info, so I did. I reached a very helpful woman who took my pre-order reservation number and checked the system at store #0299. She saw that they had received 10 PHONES YESTERDAY, but they were not in inventory. She also saw that there were 10 more pre-orders that were awaiting shipment. My pre-order confirmation was dated 5/7/2012 at 11:44AM, so she said I was in the group that should have a phone waiting for me in the store.

The Best Buy Mobile CSR then called the store and it took over 20 minutes for her to get in touch with personnel at this location. They first said that they did not have the phones, but she insisted that they did and they should look again. Finally, someone came back and said that they did have the phones, and offered an explanation that they must have come in on the truck last night. Of course this is bogus, as UPS delivers phones to Best Buy, and I spoke with them after 6PM yesterday when the guy told me had had not looked in three containers that had arrived earlier that day.

The Best Buy Mobile CSR then told me I could go to the store and pick up my phone! When I arrived, they were waiting for me and greeted me by name. The long saga was finally over - or so I thought! The person in the Mobile Phone department was very polite and he was trying to get everything processed, but he had no clue as to how to get the $50 gift card applied to the phone purchase. At one point he asked if I could come back in a few hours while they sorted out the problem. I told him to get his manager to approve the $50 gift card another way or the next time I walked through their door would be my last. He then figured out that he was not inputing the information properly. I sat through two system reboots and finally we moved to a different terminal to complete the transaction. I also waited through a call to Sprint to resolve an issue with the plan which turned out to also be caused by the Best Buy employee's unfamiliarity with the process. He actually was reading the step-by-step guide out loud to me while he was processing the activation. As the next LTEvo customer was waiting behind me for his turn, we finally completed the transaction - and it only took 1 hr and 25 minutes! And all I had him do was to activate the phone! I did the data migration and all account sync and setup myself after leaving the store. I will say that the guy was nice and apologized throughout the process, but nearly 1.5 hours to buy a phone?

I'm very happy to have my new phone, and I hope everyone who has not received theirs yet will get it ASAP!

Hey, that may have been me waiting behind you..@ crabtree around noon....anyway, thanks too you, my transaction was seamless and relatively quick (1hr)...once i traded in my old evo and $10.11, I was flying high...what a phone!!! nice to meet/see a fellow board member if it was you.

As I write this, RS just called and was able to get corporate to release me a phone. As they said that all RS pre-orders will be fulfilled (Good news for anyone else out there with issues from them).

Why hasn't my rs got them?? I called at 2 eastern time... Manger said they haven't received them yet.. He then began to remind me that he has my contact info and that he will call me as soon as it comes in... I think he's getting annoyed with me calling.. Lol

I had a similar experience at BB in Emeryville, CA. Got an email notice this morning that my phone was ready to pick up, so I headed over. The rep said they got them in last night just before closing. They only got 7 units and had 15 pre-orders!:eek: Glad I was first...but at a cost. They had to try several different terminals plus call Sprint to get everything activated.

On checking out they weren't going to give me any discounts (I didn't have to put any money down). He said I would get the $50+$50 off only if I traded in my OG EVO. I told him I was supposed to get $50 off just for upgrading a Sprint phone through them. After I talked to his manager and he looked in the system they found out they needed an over-ride to get the $50 discount. Apparently there was a memo about it. So I hope it's all smoothed out for the other 6 people now and make sure you get the $50 off for upgrading. For the other 8 who pre-ordered, I hope the next shipment comes soon!

1.5 hrs definitely worth the wait!:D Now I need Steinheil to get those screen protectors done!:rolleyes:

That's a great question as I believe it only can be answered once you know the supply chain/ logistics processes that RS incorporates. Do they place their pre-orders as they receive them, or do they batch process the orders once a certain number is met. That my friend I do not know. For me, I was the first, maybe the only pre-order at my store. It sounds that they did receive a shipment, so I would only assume multiple orders. Also, it may be possible that they didn't receive any and are making an exception. The only thing I would do is escalate this issue to the corporate level where someone can actually make the decision to release you a phone.
 
I hate to say it, but there's another obvious secret out there that may be hitting some of you.

If any sort of manager decision is involved for a confused-retail-store release of your phone - that manager may be trying to get out for the weekend with the significant other calling and saying when are you coming home!?

I hope that doesn't smack anyone - but we're all people, and that sort of thing happens. :(

Am i the only one that still has not got any info for my shipping. I was told that it was shipping out Thursday but still NOTHING i called sprint and they didnt have a reason for it. I dont understand why they can take my money and then not care after.

Sorry I couldn't elaborate more. I posted that on my Photon. I had to do a thing with my friend last night so I left town today. Just before I left I thought, "I'm just going to go by RS and see..". Well as soon as I walked in, I asked and the lady said they didn't have any. Thankfully the manager was there and was like, "are you the guy who preordered? We just got yours in". He had a box that looked like it had just been opened. It was very serendipitous timing. So I got very lucky. Good luck man I hope you get yours soon.

I was also the only person to pre order at my store.. I spoke with the manager earlier today and he said they MIGHT get it later on today.. And if so he would give me a call.. He seemed sincere.. My fingers are crossed

I don't know if you've tried this or not - it helped some folks, not others -

Have you tried using your account number to look up your tracking number? It's possible something happened with the email but it's still coming.

I have used that and also called them up and still they dont have anything to say. The say Sorry we are unable to get the shipping number at this time. We will email you it as soon as it is shipped out to you.

JUST GOT "THE CALL" leaving work a half hour early to go pick it up! The manager called to let me know it was there but then followed with.. It can't be turned on till tomorrow.. When I informed him that alot of people on the forums have picked up from the shack he replied with "ok we should have no problem" yippeeee!!
 
I was driving around for about hour checking on different places looking for a silicon case. I got home and a UPS package was on my door and thinking what the heck is this since I got my phone two days ago. Opened it up and it was sweet blue silicon case with red HTC on the back with a note from sprint stating thanks for your patience this is on the house.

Totally redeemed there selves as far as I

I wouldn't give up until after around 7:30. Sometimes UPS delivers pretty late. I would just be a PITA and call the manager and ask if they received their UPS delivery. Just to rub it in, here is a photo I took with the 4gLTE. For some reason it's only uploading 2mb files...still playing with this thing.

Boy it almost makes me wonder why we preorder from WF. It seems that they are not able to ship before the launch date and therefore we don't get to play a little early. I guess that is the cost of getting a price reduction. :)
Glad I am off Monday and tuesday. The wife is going for surgery on Monday hopefully so I may be home waiting. Good luck MMs.
