I pre-ordered mines from the Sprint corporate store and have no news on when the actual corporate store will receive them...I'm going with Tues 29th, but who know's!? Just have to sit and wait!;)

I called Sprint to get a launch date. They guy said his Supervisor told him the phones were still held up in Customs! That really pisses me off. Sprint give us something, not nothing, we need some kind of info. when it will be released for sale in stores

There not held in customs, Sprint has this motto where the left hand never knows what the right hand is doing!? AF (Android Forums) has more knowledge then most (97%) of Sprint employee's! I told Sprint corporate store that BB (BestBuy) was selling them, and the manager told me there still stuck in customs and I had my friend and I visit the store....utter shock as the gaze at his phone!!! Word of advice, Sprint themselves are not a reliable source!;)

So has anyone heard from wirefly? My orders still says waiting for arrival.
Just thought I would ask.

I did not on XDA I think that the warehouse doesn't operate on weekends. So I guess maybe within the next two weeks.

thanks for all the great information that has been supplied by you all that have the EVOLTE. It has been great reading.

No new updates from them. I posted the last update earlier in this thread. I ordered on the 7th and my status hasn't changed. I have 2 out of the 4 boxes checked on their order tracking site.

I don't mind waiting, but the lack of communication sucks.

I hear that and thanks for the posts really appreciate that. I have all but the last box check and I ordered on the 8th.

I agree that the lack of communication really blows but I don't mind the wait. I have ordered a new battery for my OG Evo and a longer charging cord for the LTE. :)

Not sure if it affects the charge, but I use basic computer USB extenders. They seem to charge on the PC and in the HTC Outlet plug as well. Hopefully it isn't harming my phone

Yeah I noticed that the usb/power cord was shorter than my 3vo one.... I gave it to a friend who bought my 3vo but I really miss the extra few inches my extension cord with the charger now barely reach my toolbox at work lol... Looks like it's time to get a longer extension cord haha

One thing I've been looking out for, but haven't seen yet is whether HTC will be employing the same "optical lamination" process with their screens on the LTEvo as with the One X. It's something frequently cited in discussions of the One X in terms of getting the quality of the screen as high as they did.

...And having owned the Evo 4G and Evo 3D, I know one of the biggest problems of HTC's prior screen process: dust has made its way into the screen gaps of both devices.

I think it's a fair assumption that the LTEvo will have an optically laminated glass/display, but I don't know if it's a foregone conclusion. Has anyone else seen otherwise?

Brilliant! I hadn't heard about the optical lamination process for the One X screen, but I DID notice in a recent One X hands on video that the screen reflects and refracts light with a rainbowy glint to it (probably sun light or natural light). I thought it was extremely curious but didn't look into it. Now that you mention it, it seems almost obvious that it probably has something to do with the laminating process that makes the glass more "optical" and reflect differently? Hopefully connecting the dots is not an error on my part.

Haven't read it anywhere in regards to the Evo. I wonder if we can look at some of the Evo LTE first look hands on videos and see if there is a rainbowy reflection to the screen? (too bad most of them are indoors or in low light - also final production units could always be different than promo handsets...)

I hope this subtle feature is not left off the Evo 4G LTE.

From what I understand, historically for regular LCD displays, there has been some gap between the display itself and the glass. This is best illustrated by the dust migrating into the phone getting trapped between the display and the glass (the Evo 4G had it the worst, the Evo 3D was a bit better). Or also illustrated in this comparison between versions of the ASUS Transformer Prime or this site.

Apparently, on the HTC One X, they've removed the gap altogether and laminated the LCD display directly to the glass.

This improves viewing angles, brightness, increases outside visibility, and reduces glare -- byproducts of the internal reflections/refractions from the air gap. It also has the byproduct of making the image appear like it's right at the surface of the device, or in the words of one review, "the high definition pixel matrix seems to skim across the face of the phone."

Optical lamination of the display to the glass is supposedly featured on the iPhone 4 and is one of the reasons credited with why the display looks so darn good (pixel density notwithstanding).

Never judge a screen by photos or videos of it.

You get the screen resolution, the camera resolution (different) and they add up to -

Having noticed a speck of dust under my screen's glass, and using my phone outside reflecting direct natural sun, I remembered this conversation and wanted to follow up with it.

My phone has not so much as seen the inside of a pocket and has dust under the screen's glass. It came out of the box with dust under the glass from the production facility I'd bet. Doesn't help the question of if it is optically laminated or not...

Using my Evo 4G LTE under the sun and reflecting it's light directly off the screen reveals the rainbowy reflection as I noticed in some review videos for the One X under natural lighting. Take your Evo LTE outside and try it with the screen off.

No developments or answers of any kind here. Just observations.

Just went outside at work and tried this and yes I do see it...with the sun directly reflecting on the screen

Man, I wish I had made my mind up and done a pre-order... I was about to pre-order and then all the stuff with the customs came up and they closed them.

I am currently planning on switching from AT&T to Sprint, and was going to use the EPRP... but the sprint site isn't even taking orders for the phone...

I'm currently on a plan phone without texting or anything, so should be a nice upgrade... never really used a smartphone before. I build my own computers, so I didn't have as much interest in them (You don't get dual 23" monitors on smartphones lol).

Glad to hear the phone is worth the wait though!

I don't understand what's really going on. I call around my local Sprint and BestBuy store and no one has them. Who knows, could be some marketing stunt or maybe Sprint want's to see how the first batch function on the upgrade to their system.

Heck yeahhhhh its worth it...... there may be a few bugs to work through, but there is a ton of knowledgeable people here that can help.

welcome to android and AF.. you in for a surprise

Well I see what lye's ahead this week and hopefully some good news from Sprint! 1. Regarding the shipment to the corporate stores and 2. A national launch date!

I'm thinking they want to make sure they have a decent number of phones through customs before they officially launch the phone, so they don't have a mutiny on their hands. That's just a guess based on what happened with our phones.

I'm wondering though - I don't get the paper but I keep hearing that the phone has been in ads at Best Buy (last week, I think) and Walmart this week, I'm curious if they've been able to sell some phones (if they even have stock)? No matter what, the launch of this phone got so messed up due to the whole issue with Apple...

Thanks! I had looked at a lot of phones and carriers, but this one looks awesome. I wasn't sure if my wife wanted one, but she is a graphics designer so I figured the awesome camera would be great for her! I was thinking about the Conquest, but it is hardly a comparison.

If you ever need cords, check out monoprice.com! Best site EVER...

For only $0.68 each when QTY 50+ purchased - 6ft USB 2.0 A Male to Micro 5pin Male 28/28AWG Cable | USB 2.0 Cables - Micro-B Type

$.8 something + a few $ S/H for a 6 ft cord... I got 2 1.5ft, 2 3ft and 2 6 ft cords for like $11 something. And these are nice good quality cables... I've bought a ton of stuff from there to make professional grade sound cables for 1/4 the price (soldering required).

Monoprice is definitely the best. I've been buying cables for them for years.

I've purchased them for years as well. Love them!

Has them as in you pre ordered?.... Or has them as in in store purchase?
