Official Swype on Incredible discussions

Definitely digging this typewriter! One issue though: I have automatic spacing checked off in my Settings, however it does not automatically enter a space when I enter a word and lift my finger. Anyone else having this problem? Help pls
 
I like it but it's definitely taking some getting used to. I still like the stock keyboard better for some things though, especially when I need to enter complex passwords.
 
Seems like it would be good but doesnt swype good with my zagg invsishield since my finger doesnt slide good on the rubber
 
I must be ******ed. I installed the SwypeIncredible.apk, and I have the keyboard all setup and such, but for some reason I can't get the actual swyping to work. I can TYPE on the keyboard just fine (and yes, it's the Swype keyboard, not Android stock), but even during the tutorial, swyping across the letters produces nothing but a "beep" from the phone, with no text.

edit: turning off the vibration feedback has fixed the problem.
 
Thanks guys. I am blown away by this. It works better than I thought it would.

One question after installing you can delete the apk. from your sd card right?
 
ugh. installed. went through tutorial. looked at user manual. no swype keyboard seen.

rebooted.

unchecked and checked swype checkobox. looked at user manual. went through tutorial. No swype keyboard seen.

What am i missing??? why won't this keyboard show up?

Edit: Ok - i found that if i press and hold an input box (ie "tap to compose") the swype keyboard appears, but it doesn't appear by default. How do i set my default keyboard to swype?

Edit part two: So that was only for the first time - got it. After you make your selection the first time - that becomes your default. This swype keyboard is amazing so far!!!!!!!!!!! loving it.
 
I am having an issue of Swype coming up on my incredible, I have swype checked and went threw the tutorial but I can't actually swype in a text message. Am I doing something wrong?

press and hold where you want to type and a popup menu should come up. goto Input Method then select Swype instead of Touch Input.
 
Swype has changed my life! I used to hestitate replying to work e-mails b/c it was easier to just wait until I sit down in front of a computer (ex-blackberry user and average touchscreen texter)...but not anymore!
 
There has got to be someone who can write an app to allow us to use swype in portrait and stock in landscape automatically.
 
Just download shapewriter and stop looking for hacks. Swype doesn't want to sell to you then don't support them. Seriously you swype fanbois are almost as bad as iPhone fanbois

One. You type by dragging your finger to the letters without releasing it from the screen. It's ideal in portrait mode for one hand typing, but useless in landscape since you'll have to drag your finger over a much larger keyboard. Although you can tap letters like you do with a normal keyboard, I find it cumbersome and inaccurate.
 
Someone has to be able to come up with an app to use Swpye in portrait and stock keyboard in landscape automatically.

There would be a lot of people who would love that.

Maybe it takes root to do that? I don't know.
 
Swype is awesome! I've been using it for a day now and texting is so much faster and more accurate. Best app I've downloaded so far.
 
what are the issues with legality? I'm just wondering because I've seen a bunch of other threads posting sywpe skins for other devices.
