[Official] Warning to AF Members - Scam Alert

EarlyMon

The PearlyMon
Hi,

There's a scam deal going out to people's email, promising to make you money for posting on AndroidForums.com.

Some of these appear to come from our staff members - they do not.

Neither has AndroidForums.com given out your email addresses in any way, shape or form. As near as we can tell, they've gotten addresses by scraping social networking information.

The email is signed by Adela Johnson.

Please don't fall for this scam.

Posting spam here will only get your account terminated.

Cheers, thanks! :)

Sounds to me like we made someone angry and they're trying to damage our forums with spam. The quickest way to get people to spam us is to offer this type of scam. It's sneaky, but it will ultimately fail due to some of us harboring a hatred for spam :)

Good to know. And it does kinda sound more targeted than the traditional spam.

Pretty petty in my opinion.

It just means that AF is doing something right. :P

Indeed. They messed up...should have sent us bacon...:vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroam:

"Adela Johnson" looks like the kind of name that would go straight to my bit bucket anyway. If I spent as much time as it took to open e-mails from unfamiliar names, I would still be doing them when today turns into tomorrow! No thanks!

Thanks for the heads-up though. :)

I also see that someone just tried to post a site to buy illegal drugs, though it it didn't last long. Somebody really has a grudge.
I'd look at ip addresses around Apple headquarters.

Does this mean I have to give all that money I made back? Think about it. :p
