[Official] What Changes Have You Noticed After Updating to 2.2 (Froyo)?

Obviously there are the standard Froyo additions to the phone, but I've noticed a few other things in just a couple minutes of use.

1. Haptic feedback seems to have been reduced and the keyboard seems even more responsive than before. It's very smooth to use now.

2. The phone vibrates just before it shuts down now. Never noticed that before.

Please feel free to add things you find that have been improved / become worse.

1. New gallery app
2. Updated camera UI
3. You can rotate to the right now
4. Updated market interface
5. New Swype skin (it's white now)
6. Updated Gmail app
7. Transitioning between the different home screens is smoother now and opening up the menus to add things like widgets and applications to the home screens is noticeably faster
8. New battery modes for the Battery Manager
9. The wifi icons in the Wi-Fi Settings section are white now
10. Battery usage now tells you a lot more specifics like how much battery a specific app is using and how much battery the Android OS is using.
11. No more dead pixels in camera/camcorder.
12. Wifi issue where wifi was unreliable or slow to connect has been fixed.

Since we are all upgrading our fantastic X's to Froyo, I thought I would start a thread that we can talk about the changes from 2.1 to Froyo. I know there are Froyo threads already but since we have blur skin on ours I thought I would start an X specific thread.

Here are my quick findings:

1. Obviously FASTER
2. Camera interface is improved and did I say FASTER!
3. Gallery is better. IMHO
4. You can customize the search option to only search ONLY contacts for example! I LOVE THIS NEW FEATURE.
5. The calendar has a more pleasing blue instead of black look.

What has everyone else noticed?

I like the new News/Weather app, a lot of good information in one place. I love the new Quickoffice app also. All my apps appear to be running smoother and faster. At first I wasn't getting 3G so I did the *228 and option 2 and now getting good 3G coverage. The stock calendar is a lot better now. Camera and camcorder seem more responsive and larger text makes it easier to see on screen settings. I also like the new gallery, much more streamlined. So far so good.

This is great news! I'm at work so I can't mess with the phone right now. I did the update but haven't had time to toy with it. With your help I'll know exactly what to look for later on. Has anyone tried Flash yet?

someone over if the root forum said flash runs silky smooth...they also posted a link to the flash .apk over there as well.

Anyone notice if the notification and ringer volumes are louder? How about wifi hotspot? Has it been disabled?

Don

Quadrant score?

A nice improvement for me:

anyone who has loaded the leak are any of you connected to a corporate exchange server? do you know if they fixed all the notification bugs?

I was hoping for a bit more of a bump for the X. Looks like a 200 point increase. Stock kernal + froyo = around +400 (score of around 850) for the Droid when I rooted and installed froyo.

There is a new lock screen on the stock version and it works just fine. When I turned the sound off it looks like it goes to vibrate, but I called my phone from my work phone and it was silent. It also looks like the incoming call icons have changed as well.

2.2 does change how silent/vibrate works according to this:
Froyo is Confusing those who Vibrate and Silent their Devices | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

(not the icon on the lock screen should look like the vibrate icon when vibrate on silent isn't on, which is what I assume you're seeing)

Camera -

Everything is a little bigger, (info in top left, tag, local, ect.)

The camera button on the screen works GREAT, much steadier than the dedicated button, you hold down the screen and release to take the pic. Very nice.

Dedicated button > Camera, not much of an improvement in speed of app.

Gallery, you can choose to select as many pictures as you want, share, delete, print. I still would like to be able to sort them in folders I create, seems everything is sorted by date/time taken/uploaded/saved

HDMI button - there is an HDMI button in the top left when playing vids, I assume this is to switch the signal over to that output, I don't have my cable OR a HD set close by atm to see if the "controller" app pulls up when connected.

BUG When selecting "effects" I get several horizontal lines on whiter objects, once selected or exited this goes away, but it is in view when scrolling.

Calendar - slight change in color and schedule but still bland as before

Clock/Alarm/Timer - no change exept you can now rotate 270

Hold HOME button for apps - there was a black square, now there is a gradient change change from black to clear, eye kandy

Network speed Wifi and 3G at getting higher up load speeds compared to download speeds, which was the opposite before - I know it varies but I pulled 8.1mb dl / 11.1mb ul w/99ms latency via WIFI, .9mb dl / 1.8mb ul w/287ms latency via 3G.

Yes, any contact has a grey frame around their picture, same with sms/mms

Noticed everything on here

Also Chrome to phone is available in the market after you update and it is working great.
