Offline audiobooks app

[2797jake]

I have a Nexus 7, along with a long plane ride soon. I was looking at some Audiobook apps, like the amazon one. I downloaded the books so I could play them offline but I get an error if I'm not connected, others get the same problem. Tried a few audiobook apps, none of them that good or none available offline.

I'm looking for an audiobook app that I can use offline. Preferably free.

Or any other alternative

Some local libraries offer digital books and they expire. Call your local ones. Mine expire in two weeks and I read them offline on my xoom

I find MortPlayer Audio Books good and it's free. I use Overdrive to download audio books from my library to my PC (they won't download directly to mobile devices). You are allowed to copy these to another device or to a CD as long as you delete them when they run out on Overdrive (!). So I copy the books to my phone and use MortPlayer. If it makes any difference, I'm in the UK.

Yes, there are a lot listed on Overdrive. I searched for the town you listed in the Overdrive app and it shows that Renfrewshire libraries have a digital library. I think it is normally done by county. You just need to have a library ticket and a login which your local library can provide. They don't have huge numbers though, but you may be lucky and find what you want. Another alternative is to borrow audio CDs from your library and rip them to your PC and copy them to your phone but it usually makes a mess of the chapter order which takes a bit of sorting out.

Good luck!
