Oficial Jellybean update for t-mobile begins

Yeah same here. I just installed it with Odin. Looks pretty cool. Now I'm going to be late for work. :vroam:

I lost tap tap glider, Words Free, and my Galaxy SII wallpapers apps but everything else is there. ontacts synced up with my favorites intact. My homesceen icons were removed but all except the apps listed are in the Apps folder. Kies is aware that I have the latest update. All is well.

Turns out I didn;t lose those apps I mentioned there icons just hadn't loaded. They were in the app drawer and I moved them fom there back to the homescreen. I wish I had done a backup first then restored it after the firmware update. That would probably have solved all that.

Now its finally official from T-Mobile.

"Beginning April 8, the Samsung Galaxy S II will have an optional software update to Android version 4.1.2/ Software T989UVMC6 via Samsung Kies only. This update changes the OS to Jelly Bean.

You can update in one way:

Manual download to T989UVMC6 If you want to update to T989UVMC6, you can update via Samsung Kies. Ensure you are on the latest version of Kies prior to attempting the update. See SAMSUNG KIES to confirm the version.".

I guess you aint getting much work done today. Lol

I downloaded it and have been messing around. It looks A LOT more cleaner to me and faster than 4.0.4 it seems like to me at least.

Question though, I might update my wifes but she has a bunch of apps for her pregnacy and stuff. Do I HAVE to wipe the phone or can I just update hers and leave it alone?

Hey, welcome to the forums Brandon. :hello:

No, if You're using kies you don't have to wipe. It might still be a good idea to backup her apps. Carbon is good if you aren't rooted.

I did absolutely nothing to my phone but plug it in and update it. Everything is fine so far, and all my apps and contacts are there. It took about 20 minutes or so. It runs smooth, but I have not had enough time to really mess with it yet.

Thank you Atma. I have been lurking for a couple weeks now and finally got a free moment to register. I just used the Obin method to update, couldn't get kies to work on my computer at work or home. Just asking because she has a bunch of games, but more important is her prego apps. I figured the wipe and the cache was to just get rid of everything since you were starting over with a stock rom
