Help OK Launcher EX isn't working on my Kindle Fire

I just got a new Kindle Fire (2nd gen?). I don't like the carousel interface and have tried to use the OK Launcher EX to change the setup, but it won't start

I've watched numerous "how to" videos but I still can't get it to work. I allowed my kindle to download 3rd party apps. Then I got Andro Xplorer so I could axcess the files I needed. Then I downloaded the GO Launcher EX and installed the program. At this point ALL the self help videos say that the program should either be in the carousel or will come up when I hit the home button. However this doesn't happen, and no matter where I look I can't open the program.

I have tried numerous versions of OK Launcher EX but none have worked. When I install it only allows me to click DONE, and doesn't allow me to click OPEN. Is this because my Kindle Fire is brand new? What can I do?

OK Launcher EX? I can't find any reference to that, only GO Launcher EX

Once you have installed it (assuming that the new kindle fire software works in much the same vein as the 1st gen) when you return to the home screen you should get a pop up window asking which app you want to use as home, does this not happen?
