OK, My Desire is surely not well at all...

Ok, look at these horrendous stats....

Uptime: 13h 53m
Usage....
Android: 34%
Cell Standby: 26% (13h 48m)
Phone Idle: 19% (10h 4m)
Voice Calls: 9% (28m)
Display: 8% (3h 45m
Wifi: 4% (1h 44m)

Battery History (Android Sys Info app)
Running: no sleep 6h 6m
Screen on: 3h 48m
Phone on: 28m 33s
Wifi on: 1h 44m
Wifi running: 1h 44m

All I have been doing on the phone is mostly txting, with a short browse on internet in the morning reading news. My display setting is set low (45 out of possible 255)

WHY IS MY ANDROID % SO HIGH???

I dont have auto-sync on
I use Handcent SMS

Phone has been up 26 mins, and battery @ 93%

These are my sons stats for his Desire HD....

10h 39m 15s since unplugged
Battery 70%

Android: 6%
Cell Standby: 14%
Phone Idle: 12%
Voice Calls: 6%
Display: 43%
Wifi 7%
Mediaserver 3%
Opera Mobile 2%

WTF!

Mine is

up time 16:07.

Android system 49%
Cell Standby 23%
Display 14%
Phone Idle 13%

I always charge it over night and it always needs a boost by evening else it runs out of juice by around 7-8pm

The screen drains a lot. 3h 48m is a long time. 5h maybe less would see your phone dead.

My.phone has been on battery for 43 mins. 27 mins screen is on and battery is at 89%

This is normal for me and my.phone is hugely optimised for battery life

Edit, plus I have an amoled screen so pixels are off when displaying pure black so this saves me even more power.

Well firstly dont read into the % too much, as the 34% simply means that it's using 34% of the current battery usage. The totals will always add up to 100%, so if the Android OS was only using 4% then the other 30% would be shown against something else...

Don't you mean SLCD SUroot? the LCD's don't display pure black whereas the AMOLED screen does... My friend has an LCD and was not happy when he saw mine :/

Yes, I agree with BurnCK.

Don't think of it as how much battery it used, this is just the proportion of the used battery and where its gone.

You can see your son obviously has his screen set very bright due to the large amount dedicated to the screen.

These figures look normal to me.

I dont understand how my phone has been idle for longer than my sons, but my battery has been humped... :/

is the Desire HD better at efficiency?

No, I mean AMOLED. I have an AMOLED screen and to display pure black, it simply turns off the pixels. So those pixels do not use power.

SLCD screens use power to attempt to display black by shining light through the pixels. In fact an SLCD has to work hard to display black using light and I think SLCD will possibly use more power to display black than it would to display white.

Slightly, but it doesnt matter how long it has been idle if you have had your screen on for nearly 4 hours. How long was your sons screen on?

How could I tell which I have? I ask as I haven't had anywhere near the appalling battery life of some and wonder if this has anything to do with it? It's certainly not optimised for battery life and gets fair use (comic reading along with the usual) and I usually have about 50-60% left after a 16/17 hour day... Few calls though, so I guess that is a fair saving.

Pretty much all Desires from August onwards are SLCD. If you have a HTC box, if it says screen type AMOLED then its amoled. If it doesnt mention screen type, its SLCD.

Another thing you can do is set a pure black background with no icons (maybe just a black image) and go into a dark room. If you can see light bleeding from the edge of the screen, then its SLCD.

Don't worry, my desire is similar.

The desire CPU uses more battery than the desire HD.

And your desire CPU is still running, even if you are not using your phone, especially with Apps running in the background.

hi,
i think it is fair to say that the desire battery isnt the best - similar to iphone 3g imo - mine will drop very quickly to under 90% after a full charge - i can get over 2 days standby out of it.......but only if i turn all the data etc off - so not much use really - mine will normally make it to the end of the day - but only just

cheers
dan
