Help OK so WWYD?

As some of you know the power button on my Bionic fell off a couple weeks ago. I called into Verizon and was offered a CLN phone. (Which is exactly as I expected per their policy.) I politely thanked them and said I'd wait and think about it. I'm afraid to get another phone as I haven't had any of the buggy problems that have been reported and I worry that the replacement will be a buggy one. I took the phone to a local cell phone repair shop to see if they could just replace the button. I was told they couldn't repair it because the phone is too new yet and they couldn't order the part/parts needed. I called Verizon back Friday and went ahead and ordered the CLN phone.

My husband said I should take my phone and the one they send to the repair shop and just have them switch out the parts needed and then send the CLN phone back. That way I could keep my phone and not have to worry about the bugs. I'm not worried about the cost to fix it. I mean yeah it sucks it's less than 30 days old and I'm spending the money to fix it but what can I do?

I'd love your opinion and please let me know of what kind of problems I could have. For example could I get in trouble with Verizon?

Much appreciated!
Becky

My guess is that the MEID will be recorded and if you tried to do something like that they would know about it b/c they sent you a physically working phone with one MEID and you're returning the same phone with the same MEID with the symptom that you originally called to have your original phone replaced for.

Plus, if anyone was paying attention, they might also notice that you did not ask for a new replacement and get suspicious.

This is a long shot, but a bit unorthodox, in particular if the repair shop is not 100% positive that they could perform the repair without leaving evidence that they opened the phone up.

My advice is to try the CLN phone for a couple of days and see if it exhibits any of the symptoms that you've read about or if it seems like it is error-free - then make your decision. If it is error-prone, call CSR at VZW and tell them that the phone is not working as well as your first and you want to return it and keep your original phone.

The really great thing about your solution is that it no longer implicates the rest of this forum in a fraud against Verizon.

My vote ... take the replacerment ... it will probably be great.

IMNHO there are a few batches of bad batteries and a few batches of bad phones released in the US and that is what all of yus are spending half out time reading about.

If she got a good phone out of her retail location she will probably get another good one.

The new phone is coming from Memphis not my retail location.

Personally I think most of the issues found on this phone come from low signal. If u havent had problems then you probably wont with the new one. Im just basing this on my experience but could be wrong

... and upgrade to 4G LTE in their various towers ... and a few batches of bad extended batteries .. and some bad standard batteries ... and some bad SIM cards ... and some loose SIM or SD cards ... and a few manufacturing defects ... and an apparent shipment to Radio Shack with bad serial numbers ...

... and ... the large number of people who have absolutely no problems whatsoever are not leaving messages in this forum (very often).

My ONLY Bionic problems ...

Unseated SD-Ext card after I dropped it 12 inches onto a short pile rug.

Loss of data on and off for about a week. I am in a 3G-only area. I think they were getting ready for the 4G conversion. It would be out for about 30 minutes and then magically reappear.

I can only speak about my experience of two yrs with Droid 1 and now two bionics and 2 batteries. When im in a solid signal area I have very few if any issues. Ya battery died but what do you do. My only point is the radio sucks on this phone and is weaker than the Droid was and problems including locking up only seem to happen when im in weaker areas. Your millage may vary

Are you running it with 4G enabled? If yes, have you considered turning it off to see if you got performance like you like your previous 3G device?

Ya ive done that.really the radio in this is week. I actually have set up multiple 802.11 wherever I am to compensate. Ive never needed to do that on the Droid 1 and im in the same spots. Realisticallly its a combination of hardware and software causing the issues in my case.
