Just now I noticed that my phone has the blinking LED indicating an e-mail or text. I picked it up and pushed the power button and it won't come on. I held the button down, still no dice. I plugged in the USB charger, still nothing - just the LED blinking with a black screen.

Anyone have this happen before? Should I just remove the battery and replace it?

Yes, I'd try pulling the battery. If it still won't turn on after that, you may need to take it to the VZW store or wherever you purchased it for a warranty replacement (unless you're inside your 14 days from a VZW corporate store in which case they may swap it right there).

Seems to be working now. Weird. I looked but didn't see any other threads about something like this. Hope it doesn't become a regular occurrence.

Are you using LightFlow or something similar the manipulate the LED? I had an issue where I acciddentally configured lightflow to control the screen LED which produced the same results you had.

I am not.

I don't know if the blinking LED is related to my phone not wanting to turn on. It is just what drew my attention to the phone in the first place.

I've had to do a battery pull once or twice over the past month --- due to not getting any response from the power/lock button. But I've been quite harsh on the device, in my own opinion, meaning lots of data, lots of apps, lots of tinkering (although still stock OS).

It's happened to me a few times. Every time a battery pull solves it. I always chalked it up to being rooted on a flashed ROM.

yeah me too. new operating system and/or downloaded market apps not optimized for ICS are probably to blame.
