So my brother has the ascend & I have the admire of course we both live in the same house and he seems to always have 4 bars & I always have 1 or 2 does anyone know what the problem is? Is there possibly a problem with our phones baseband version or channel/sid? Because at this point PRL means nothing because me & him both have the same one it's just odd I know there's a way to fix this or a tweak or hack for this if he's getting all his bars I know I can get all mine too.
 
Are you running a custom rom?
Some have different bars because of the different theams used.

go to settings, about phone and status ,look at the signal strenth
lower DB is better signal. then compare with your brothers phone.
if their close don't worry about it.and don't hold them next to each
other when you do it (18 inches] minimum seperation.

No I'm running completely stock & rooted with all bloatware removed & okay I'll look into all that thanks.
