Root old apks won't install

I have some old apks I'd like to install again. I had them on the original Evo and when I first got the lte I remember being able to install them. I've used root explorer and es file explorer to navigate to sdcard2/. When I click on them I'm prompted with the 3 decisions and I choose install. The screen blinks and goes back to the file explorer where i'm looking at the apk again. Basically, the screen blinks then nothing happens, nothing installs.

Is there a way to install these older packages still? I read something about things needing to be signed for jelly bean so I downloaded ZipSigner, signed the apk but still the same thing. I've tried copying to internal storage and it does the same. Oddly enough, one or two packages still install but not the others. Any help?

They should still be able to be installed.

First thing I would check is that you dont have outside app installation blocked.

Next thing I would check is to make sure the apk's werent damaged in some way

Finally, try uninstalling and reinstalling the file explorer

Thanks for the quick reply. I've done all the above with no luck. For whatever reason I just opened the app installer and it installed them with no issues after it scanned my card?!?! I wonder what the difference is or how I can get a file explorer to work on the apks again? Guess I should have mentioned i'm on Viper4g latest and I used the app installer that has the snake icon.
