Old gmail or New gmail?

So I've been a gmail (and other google online apps) user for years and years and years. I've just brought a Galaxy S4 i9505 and get repeatedly asked for my google accounts details; which is expected.

Is there anyway that through using my phone with my gmail account can get it blocked and thus my all so crucial root email is lost to me?

Or rather, to put another way:

If you've had an android phone for years do you wish you could go back and start using it with a new / clean gmail address?

I'm no slouch when it comes to IT so I'm asking those more experienced rather than as a newbie.

Use another mail app and POP3. Google mail has instructions on its mail page.
I haven't lost anything in 6 or 7 years. I only use the mail page now and then to make sure everything I deleted from the phone and tablet is gone. Some sent stuff stays there forever.

POP3 acts more like mail itself. You can use IMAP, too. Unless you tell it otherwise, IMAP mail stays in the main mail page on the PC so you have to go there to delete it.

I haven't had an Android phone for that long, but have always used Thunderbird or Eudora for email on the computer. Both use POP3.

i use the default email.apk that is part of stock Android because it supports multiple accounts--while the official Gmail app only supports Gmail itself.

Using a new Gmail account would be problematic regarding apps you've bought. I'd rather cleanup the account itself.

I believe you can sync multiple accounts with the Play Store?
Or do you have to do it manually in settings?
(sorry for off topic :o)

I know you can use multiple accounts, but that would make the whole starting over with a new account moot. You're still tied to the old one.
