I am 56+ w/ADHD who got a Droid X.
It is a fun phone...too fun. I have a habit of downloading apps faster than I can view them. All was going well until suddenly a few, maybe 6-8, apps icons on my home screens turned into what looks like the blue screen of death w/gears at the bottom right, which I assume is a generic default icon or something. I should have stopped then but alas once the hyperfocus drive in my bkwds wired brain kicks in there's no chance of stopping at the common sense stop sign.
At some point later when i got my "updts now available" notice, something strange happened...i couldnt update. It would just sit there. I also couldnt dwnld anymore. And to top it all off, i couldnt uninstall. Somehow, thru a variety of uneducated lucky strokes, I got it all back. I tried force closes, power downs, various programs i had already dwnld'd like auto kill & auto prog mgr, etc. I am not sure what I did. But i do know what i didnt do...slow down. After i got things unlocked, & uninsatalled what i thought was the offending program, alas, doomsday again. So, after somehow unwittingly getting things fixed about 3-4 more times, i blew by one more little sign...these things happened when i car docked. I think i figured out that my problem program is car home. i cant confirm but when i kept getting a nbr of force closes i shd have stopped then. but as i sd, the old brainwaves get in my way...did i happen to mention ADHD? I didnt find out until i was almost 50, and its been fun trying to retrain this old brain...ok, maybe not always fun.
And so, my problem is, i dont know how i got things back and running, and now i have tried all i can remember (phone is not rooted...that was my next adventure...i know what ur thinking...dont worry-i have it all under control...heeheehee) w/o success. I can uninstall, i cant updt, i cant download. anybody have any ideas or hear of anything similar?
I do plan to take things slowly...i hope to anyways...as long as i remember to take my meds and attend my ADHD support group i shd b fine. Appreciate any suggestions, help, smart alec comments.
thanx. doug
