Help Old problem, caused by regrettable factory reset

Ok, my problem started because my sd card was acting up. I didn't know what it was at the time. Couldn't manage my apps, they all said "computing".

Anyways, I did a factory reset. Did nothing to fix my issue, but my option to select allowing non-market apps was gone. Sd card is fine now, gingerbread seems to have fixed it. But ATT can't send the non market update through again, I have had them try multiple times. Is my only option to root? Really don't want to, but I can't go on like this. My new version of the market is gone, no more swype, no more Amazon free app of the day. Any advice?

That's odd cause the gingerbread update included the unknown sources option.

If att can't push that option and you don't want to root or sideload each app you want I would maybe swap out the phone. Chances are it will be a refurb with froyo 2.2 on it and you would have to do the gingerbread update which again should have this option included. At least that is what I would do cause now im used to having that non market apps option and need it cause im too lazy to sideload anymore.

Was your gingerbread update successful? Maybe something went wrong with it. If you check the android version on your phone it says 2.3.3?

Yeah, my update was successful. I think. It is 2.3.3. But I just tried another factory reset. I know, sounds like a dumb idea. But my problem ended the same way it started. My option magically reappeared afterwards. Thanks for your help, 2manyphones!

Well that was an odd glitch but glad it reappeared for you. I know I would go crazy if my unknown sources disappeared especially after an update that was supposed to include it.
