Root OM to Admire

Is it possible to put the meid and all from my OM to an admire? And settings and all. I recently got an admire from a friend who didnt need it. Soo i was planning to give this to her while I start my plan with the Nexus lol.

For apps and settings u would have to use titanium backup or something like that, as far as changing the meid ......(Ik how to change it on the optimus m).....it is illegal to discuss about on AF

im 100% sure its not stolen lol ^.^ due to the fact it was her previous # lol :D. I just wanna test to see if it would. If it does then thatd be awesome. If it doesnt then oh well. I move onto the nexus lol

Just dial *226 on the admire and say "switch phones" or open dialer and press ##626* and manually swap your min and phone number in.

Esn doesn't need to change.

I don't think changing ur min to another one will work, I tried with my phone and it didn't, when I changed the meid as well and had a cloned phone it worked, but I am not going into details of how I did it on AF
 
is it possible to change it manually like using qxdm? It was possible to put in the meid for OM and all. Not saying I will but, possible maybe?

:D wayyyyy too much........(why I have my gmail allowed to be seen by anyone)......further discussion about this should be closed, try calling metro and find out if they can help you, if they can't, then gmail me. Changing MIN # does not work unless MEID is also changed. I am not going to post any more because I have said what I can that doesn't go against AF policy.

tbo, I wouldn't use any Google services to chat about that... It IS illegal to clone a phone, and They do keep your info indefinitely, even if deleted... same as FB.

If Google were to look through all the illegal websites people visited while signed into Gmail ......Google would be destroying itself
 
Also I think that it really only should be illegal if you are cloning someone else's phone to intercept calls and messages.
If your cloning your own phone and you are keeping both,I would consider that not illegal IF it were my rules....purpose behind that would be for people that always kill their battery :D

Allow me to Digress some more :P

It's not illegal... it's part of the terms of service that you agree to when you sign up with them, they openly use all of your info for "marketing" and "product service".

The difference of FB vs Google is this. Facebook is about selling your info and ever changing privacy policies so they can do this as best as they can. Google outright tells you they do this(like scanning your incoming e-mail for marketing reasons). And the problem is not them themselves(lul)... it's the people who ask for the information, usually in the form of a subpoena.

Don't Forget these two services, and the many like them are PROFILES.... on you :) ... and don't forget Googles motto, "Don't be evil"

Only you can prevent forest fires :D

Hmmmm.... (all of a sudden realizes Google shares everything with everyone).....I just lost a little respect for Google now. lol

Although I do agree with you on that matter, it will never be this way due to the cellphones design is to be a singular connection to the grid, thus allowing tracking...

Way back when Pentium III's first came out they had Unique ID's on the CPU, which could be called up from any website to track the incoming users. There was such an uproar about it that people didn't like being uniquely tracked that they offered bios updates to turn off the ID in the bios.

Now we all walk around with UID's.

I think cell phones being trackable with UID's are worse...
If people were mad about their computers being trackable, idk why no one is mad about their cell phone being trackable.....probably because of 911 Emergency though.

Anyways, were you originally part of another forum by any chance, because you know a lot :D and ik you had your profile since February 2011, but it was only recently that you started posting around on here...like the last week or so.
 
I'm into lurking. When I first joined the only way to root my phone was with the LG updater tools. Pretty much right after 2.2.1 was let into the wild. Which at first we couldn't root cuz there was differences with 2.2 and 2.2.1, like with the 2.2.2 now. So I've been lurking since then. Only recently have I been more active due to having more free time, and a new computer that I can actually use instead of having to keep alive.

I'm still setting up my DevEnv due to my laptop having some driver issues, but I'm close to resolving them. I do have one setup in a VM, but i hate sharing resources... If I'm gonna compile i want ALL the power.

This is pretty much the only forum I subscribe to, since it has the best OM "support" by far. I've been soaking up the info here, but also anywhere I can find it. Even before Android, I've been a GNU/Linux advocate... who needs windows to watch Netflix...damn DRM...

and also, to the 911 comment... We openly give up freedoms for safety. It's been the same through-out history.... only when enough people get pissed do things change.

I need windows to print :D no Linux driver has been made for my printer so I have to dual boot, and I don't like vmware either, which is why I don't use the easy-but-slow share environment .....it gets annoying when I have to reboot to print though..

And I had this phone since may 2011, by then I think they just started finding the gingerbreak root method.

I have a couple of forum accounts elsewhere, one for xda (sammyz), one for androidcentral (sammyz12), and I probably have others that I didn't really keep track of....anyways, the OV/OS support are better on those forums than here (its ok here), and I keep trying to find good roms that can easily be ported to the optimus m.....sometimes the optimus one and optimus T will work, but there's always bugs with those, even if the CDMA radio does work (probably because of it being a GSM phone)
 
I honestly cannot understand the op's reasoning for changing the meid, and if not he'll switch to a nexus? ¿¿Que??

Im not going to use 2 have 2 phones so both have service lol. And if it doesnt work then its time to move on. Im just checking to see if its possible. Was going to do it if I got answers if it was :P but since this turned into a somewhat disagreement, Ive actually havent tried it at all lol.
 
i feel like no one is paying attention to the link I posted... I do this myself, no trickery or nothing... I can only assume there are other motives. :/

there is a saying that must be said here that applies to programming and anything technical as to not over think things, and take no offense to it...

Its not as easy as you think....you will most likely ruin the MEID and ESN on the phone if you try to change either one. I have been there....if your doing it just to see if you can, you can't.
