Hey,

So, after flashing with Odin for months to newer firmware I finally took plunge and rooted my S2. Was bit hesitant but my god it was easy. Seeing as I'm a noob to rooting I'm after some info.....

What are the best/essential apps now I'm rooted?? I have downloaded Titanium as I've seen that mentioned loads but looking for ur advice as what to get now.

When rooting Superuser was installed on phone but am not sure what I do with it!?! Busybox was also installed according to guide I followed but cannot find it?

The guide also mentioned custom ROMs which i've seen and read about but is there anything I should know/look into before delving into this next chapter??

Sorry lots here but Cheers in advance.

I wouldn't worry too much about superuser and busybox. You don't have to do anything with them, they just run in the background and allow apps to gain root access. When you opened titanium for the first time you should have been asked to allow root access, that was superuser

The first thing I would do is make a nandroid backup using the cwm app which was also installed. You can then start to freeze some of the bloat which is on your phone if you wish. You can do this with the paid version of titanium or app quarantine is a good free alternative. A list of apps which are safe to remover/freeze is here

I'm going to move this thread to the all things root subform as that's where most of us rooters hang out so you should get a few replies.

I suggest checking out the root guide sticky as it contains lots of helpful info

Here is a step-by-step guide to, "freezing", bloatware:-

and here is a step-by-step guide to installing probably the most popular custom ROM around at the moment:-

Start reading! :D

Checkrom is bril I've only had it on for a few days but I love it wish I had done it sooner

NoMoarPowah is a fab app to have on a rooted phone

It adds so much more too charging the phone as you can set it too auto reboot once charged

But the best thing is say if you want to set the Alarm for 8am and you have it off and charging overnight you cant set it to reboot 10 mins before the alarm is due :)

Its used by samsung to determine whether you've put anything on your phone to void your warranty. So all custom roms and kernels will increase the counter whereas official firmware won't.
