Just wanted to say you guys are awesome for takin' this task on! I wish I knew more about code & software, 'cause I'd be right in there with y'all. I DID manage to successfully root my Optimus V and my wife's Wildfire S with guidance from this forum, so I'm learning. I'm gonna unwrap my Gal-Re Tuesday morning, and hopefully by that evening, I'll be rooted. I'm migrating here from the Optimus V world, and am looking forward to a lot of new experiences here, so you'll be seeing me post more in the future. By the way, just how did you guys learn this "stuff" anyway? And where can I look and research for myself?
Hey Martinez, I'm sorry too...i shouldn't have blown up like that...friends again? haha
Merry Christmas all!
Yeah... friend again (shakes hand) lol
Merry Christmas to you too dude.
Found this guide for porting CM10 to Nexus 7. Perhaps this will have clues about what we need to do?

I wonder if the bootloader is locked. I have no idea what that means, but it sounds like it could be a problem, haha.
And unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the Rise does![]()
subscribing to the thread. If you really want to work together it is best to open a public repository and make regular commits so other can follow the procedure and give input. This is computer science, a science project in program porting to be specific. It has to be thought of as a precision engineered thing. Good luck, and have fun. No pressure!
I believe Samsung only lock bootloaders on VZW devices, maybe ATT too. Odin is the tool we have to communicate with the bootloader. Locked bootloader means we don't get to change the kernel at all. We have access to all the big stuff on these devices, and we LOVE it!
How interesting
Why does this seem so complicated
