Root [On Hold] JellyBean CM10.1

also, on the sony ericsson they had the same proble, but it was in the updater scripts, Jimmy you might want to try to edit the updater scrrips and get a custom kernel, preferably one we can overclcok with thanks

Just wanted to say you guys are awesome for takin' this task on! I wish I knew more about code & software, 'cause I'd be right in there with y'all. I DID manage to successfully root my Optimus V and my wife's Wildfire S with guidance from this forum, so I'm learning. I'm gonna unwrap my Gal-Re Tuesday morning, and hopefully by that evening, I'll be rooted. I'm migrating here from the Optimus V world, and am looking forward to a lot of new experiences here, so you'll be seeing me post more in the future. By the way, just how did you guys learn this "stuff" anyway? And where can I look and research for myself?

I am definitely still learning a ton, but i just learned from asking questions on the forums, also, just to let you know, the reverb is a difficult little guy to deal with, i hope you are up for the challenge!

To quote Scarlett Jo in "The Avengers"...'yeah; It could be fun...' Seriously, though, the wife's Wildfire was a bear & a half, Cafe Kampuchea over on that thread got me through it w/o too much headache. So while I'm sure it'll be a challenge, I'm hoping there won't be too many hiccups. And now with the advent of the Ministro II method, who knows...it may be less painful than I expect

Merry Christmas, to you, too! I'm excited to know that I have a shiny new Reverb under the tree! I'm looking forward to rooting and replacing the stock recovery later today!

subscribing to the thread. If you really want to work together it is best to open a public repository and make regular commits so other can follow the procedure and give input. This is computer science, a science project in program porting to be specific. It has to be thought of as a precision engineered thing. Good luck, and have fun. No pressure!

I wonder if the bootloader is locked. I have no idea what that means, but it sounds like it could be a problem, haha.

I believe Samsung only lock bootloaders on VZW devices, maybe ATT too. Odin is the tool we have to communicate with the bootloader. Locked bootloader means we don't get to change the kernel at all. We have access to all the big stuff on these devices, and we LOVE it!

How can I open up a repo?

Sorry for the lack of response guys, I've been incredibly busy this past week and haven't had any time to swap out my hard drive and go back to Ubuntu.

Are we sure? Do you remember my message while you were on your way to Arizona? To reiterate, I found a menu to unlock the bootloader, but I needed to find the key(s).
