Android Enthusiast
Hi all,

Thanks to the upcoming change to Verizon's unlimited data package, I found myself in need of a 4G phone. My android lifeline has been as follows: Eris>Incredible>Incredible 2, so I thought I'd take a gamble on the Thunderbolt to hop onto 4G while I wait for something that really catches my interest.

I know there were some issues when the phone was released a long time ago, in a galaxy not so far away, but I'm hoping most of those have been cleared up by now. I already plan on getting an extended battery, I'm spoiled by my Inc2's battery life. Anything I should be ready for when it gets here? I've never rooted a phone before, never saw the need, but an willing to give it a shot, maybe starting with the old Eris in case I totally frack something up.

Thanks in advance for any info or insights you all have to offer!

I've had my T-bolt since the day it came out and it's been a great phone. Most of the problems were in early days and related to being the first 4G device. Other than the horrible battery life with the standard battery, I have no complaints. The extended battery is a good investment and I'd recommend going with the 2750mah one from HTC.

Had a choice between the Samsung Charge and TB a year ago..chose the Charge..bad move. After 6 defectives phones ..Verizon agreed to switch me to the TB..Battery life with the Seideo extended is great..getting 10-12 hrs with heavy use.. :D

Yeah, I noticed there were a lot of Charges listed. Did a little digging and found the phone was pretty craptastic. Considering all my androids to date have been HTC, I hope the TH will fill my needs.

Extended battery is on it's way!

That's what I was hoping to hear. How's the latest update? Looking over some of the threads, I've seen battery life has been dropping for some.

Although there are quite a few HD phones out, I feel you can't go wrong with Thunderbolt. It has been very app friendly, with its current resolution. Recent update hardly noticeable meaning nothing broken, and since my bolt has been a champ since day one, I see nothing fixed. The Rezound and Thunderbolt extended batteries by HTC are truly the best. Do indeed enjoy your new toy. Btw I noticed U had or have the Inc2. Besides better standard battery life and smaller yet sharper screen display it may be to you a 4g less Thunderbolt. The best to you...

Good to hear!

I love my Inc2, and would keep it longer if it weren't for Verizon's evil plans. There's no 4G coverage in my area, and no word on when there will be. Looking forward to gettingny new-to-me toy!

I haven't noticed a decrease in my battery life since the update. The only thing I've noticed since updating is that my internet connection doesn't hang anymore.

I hope battery life is OK for my wife coming from og incredible. I got new phone and new otterbox for under $30

With the last 2 updates I can go all day with texts and phone calls. If you start playing on YouTube or music a lot then obviously you're gonna need a recharge but that's true with any device even the Inc or Inc 2. Why the Thunderbolt is worth it is one reason period. Voice and data on 3g. No other device has it period. Let's face it 4G and battery life doesn't justify me upgrading to any other devices in the Verizon offerings.
