Help On my 3rd phone and still having problems.

I went to the Galaxy S3 for both phones on my family plan. Seemed like the phone was okay. A little over a week after I had it, the time on the phone changed. The phone said a time. A few minutes later it said a time that was before the time when I first looked at it. I restarted it and it was okay for a few days. Then it happened again. I also noticed that I stopped receiving text notifications. I had to go into the messages to find out I had new texts. I called ATT and they said to return the phone. So I did and they gave me a new one. That same night I had the time error again. I also noticed the black mark on the screen. I found out that was a common problem. Well, I called ATT again and they said both of those problems were not normal and to return the phone again. So I did today. Less then 12 hours later I am getting a time error again and relized I have the black dots again. The other phone has the black dot but that's it. No other problems. I am just wondering why I am on my third phone and still getting time problems. I've been looking and asking and aparently nobody is having this issue. I've asked if it could be due to the apps I've downloaded but they're all pretty normal popular apps that shouldn't cause problems. I was thinking it may be the SIM card but the person on the phone said that shouldn't have anything to do with it. This is really getting to me. I just want a normal working phone. I'd like to keep the Galaxy S3 but it seems like I keep running into problems.

Everyone I know that has a S3 has not had the problems you are describing.

I would suggest not loading any apps for a while, just to see if it is an issue with the apps that you have been loading.

Good luck :)

That's a shame. I m with sprint had me phone for over a month and absolutely no problems. Best phone I ve ever had..no black spots etc. sorry about all your issues

Maybe it's something with the network time code in your little area. Maybe it's somehow conflicting with your device.

my guess is some sort of network related issue...do you live in an area with poor service?...if you're in a different area does the time work correctly?

I've never heard of such a problem.... a local tower problem?? maybe they keep sending you the same phone back :)

Hope you get it solved

To make sure I'm clear, are the problems you're having the time fluctuating and the black dots on screen?
Is your time set to the network time? I think I recall someone else on ATT mentioning that their time would jump around, could it be on ATT's end? Does it still jump around if you set the time yourself?
What sort of black marks do you see on screen? As in like dead pixels? Maybe you could provide a photo (not a screen capture) of what you're seeing? I've noticed that occasionally when an app shows a black screen while loading, I do see uneven black spots on the dark screen, but I only really see it during that time. Whenever I'm looking at the screen with black/dark backgrounds, black background/white text, or even with the notification bar pulled down, I don't see any uneven dots. If it looks more like dead pixels (as in you see it on every color background) that would be a screen problem. If it's similar to what I described, it seems to be pretty commonly mentioned around here, so I don't know if it's a problem, I guess that would depend on how bad it is for you.

Ive been going back to the same store and getting a brand new phone every time. I just dont understand how the same phone on the other line has no problems with the time (just the black spots)
I thought it could have something to do with the apps but even the people at ATT said that shouldn't have anything to do with it. All the ones I use are pretty common (bank app, CNN, Facebook, Amazon, etc) Maybe I need to go to a different store. I just can't believe that people are having no problems at all and I'm on my third phone.

It's the black dots that you can only see when it's dark and its a black screen. I've seen other people post pictures about the same issue on here.

And it doesn't matter here I am at, the time will just randomly change.

I can't speak on the time issue, but if the black dots you're referring to are the ones you can only see on a black background in a dark room, its actually very common on super amoled screens. Many people have it, most probably don't even know it since it's really only visible in a very dark room. Thankfully, I don't have them. Luck of the draw, I guess.

have you actually gotten a new sim card? try that and see if it works. if it does, call ATT up again and bitch and moan until they give you some freebies :)

You need to have it replaced. Mine is working perfectly. No issues whatsoever.

If you have used the same sim card in all three phones then I would get a new sim to try. Not going to fix your black dot screen issue though.
