Help On/Off NEW PROBLEM

Hi,

I know there are lot's of similar threads, however I believe this to be a problem no one has posted about as I can't find any similar issues on the forums, so I did check beforehand.

My Samsung Galaxy S3 is just over 1 year old and randomly shut itself off this morning as If it restarted, It automatically tries to come on but only getting as far as the Samsung screen then it goes blank, then returns to samsung screen and so on in an endless loop.

I have tried removing battery, plugging in charger then re-inserting battery, but when I do this, the battery charging logo appears for a split second, dissapears, comes back on and so on in another endless loop.

I've tried the reboot (volume up, power and home buttons together) but before I can even pess the buttons, as soon as I insert the battery the phone automatically tries to turn itself on without me pressing anything!

I am STUMPED. someone please help!!

Does sound like you are on the way to SDS (sudden death syndrome). Frequent restarts and boot problems are common before the phone get bricked and won't start at all.

Your model wouldn't happen to be white 16gb model?

Mind sharing with us what version of android are you running? Did you make any updates recently ?

No it's the Blue 16GB. I'm asuming I'll be running the most up to date version as my updates are done automatically when connected to my home WIFI.

Sudden death indeed, was working perfectly this morning to just be all of a "sudden" dead!

SDS is the most common among early 16GB models, but also observed in certain, early Note 2 versions (happened to my S3 and Note2, month apart).

In case of the S3, it's related to chip model: VTU00M / FwRev: 0x1f.

Faulty spot of NAND on this eMMC will hard brick the phone if written to.

There were updates released by Samsung, few months ago, which address this issue. But once that happens, the only way to fix it is by replacing the mother board.

If you find any way to start the device, you could try to follow the steps posted by me in earlier post:

http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...eryday-factory-reset-already.html#post6050805

But if there is absolutely no way to boot, I'm afraid your device is beyond repair from the software end, it will require a new board.

I'm really sorry to hear about your predicament.

Can i ask where you live? This SDS only affects the Gt-i9300 model from outside North America.
It could be something as "simple" as a dodgy home button.
Does sound like SDS (well actually your phone protectin itself from sds) if your on the gt-i9300. Check phone model in Settings, About Phone
