Help On screen keys instead of soft keys?

I've just acquired an S2 and it has the phantom soft key problem. Phone works fine in airplane mode, but it is pretty unusable otherwise. With the cell radio on, the search button is activated constantly.

I'd like to disable the soft keys entirely and use on screen keys instead. I tried the build.prop mod (adding qemu.hw.mainkeys=0) but the menu it presents doesn't include a menu button.

I've tried a few Play Store apps, but none have worked right. None of them stay on screen like they are supposed to.

Xperia/AOSP NavBar Buttons looks to be exactly what I am looking for. It includes a menu button, and customization options to make it look exactly like the hardware soft keys. However, once I set everything up and rebooted a few times, I never saw the keys appear on screen even once.

In general settings, check the toggle mode button and uncheck "hide on any button" and "hide on outside touch". It should stay on screen permanently then.
