will it cost more for 4g service? or will it be based upon data usage, or who t f knows right now lol

Based on what sprint does, yes it will cost more. I think they charge $10 more for 4G. But in general verizon is more expensive than sprint and the new network is better so I wouldn't be suprised if they charge another $20 for 4G and it won't be unlimited. In no way am I saying this will happen, just saying I won't be suprised.
The last official word from verizon was that they are still evaluating their pricing structure.

We really have no idea. It almost certainly cost more, but exactly how is unknown. Actually, it's possible it will cost the same, but with a cap.

VZW has released the rates for their LTE modems, and they are basically the same as their 3g. So I'd *EXPECT* the phone data rates will be around what they are now, atleast for the average user (granted, the average member on this forum is NOT an average user). And I'm guessing they'll try to lower the base monthly cost, atleast at the <GB level of usage, and increase the cost for data intense users (>5GB). But that is all honestly a guess.

The only reason I ask is because I would rather pay less for less data than more for 4g.

you can do that now, its like $15 for a really low amount of data....like so small that its 2-3 days use for me

Tmobile does not charge extra for 4g actually, at least I could not find the price online. But Verizon almost surely will add an extra 10$-15$.

Would be nice if Verizon did not charge it if your not in 4g area, unlike Sprint.

A few days ago I was talking to VZW tech support about our network extender & and at the end of the call I asked him about anything upcoming. He just said "January 6". I told him I knew about that, but I was wondering what he was thinking would be happening with LTE pricing. He said that in his opinion they wouldn't be changing the data plans for at least a year as the LTE footprint is too limited to start charging for it. He figured after 1-1.5 years they would re-evaluate it.

He thought I was going to ask about home automation on LTE. Apparently that's going to be announced at CES as well, as I remember seeing that a week or so ago on I think Engadget.

Granted this is just a tech's opinion, but it does make sense sooo... look for Verizon to do the opposite.;)

I think somewhere the verizon ceo said they would have different plans where you could either get less data at faster speeds or more data at a little slower speeds. Personally i hope they keep the unlimited i would be find with unlimited at a little bit slower speed. The extra couple seconds it would take to download is fine for me im not in that much of a hurry when i download something

I wish Verizon's plans were a little cheaper than they are right now. Don't you? 0.o

For me verizon is the cheapest(minus tmo) and with my discount through work i have 4 phones 1 smart phone for 149 a month. I was looking around to switch and checked out sprint and it would have been the same price as my current verizon plan

with VZW 69.99 everything plan its cheaper for me too. GF has the same plan for sprint but with the added 4G cost hers is more expensive

Yeah everyone just thinks sprint is so much cheaper and that verizon is so over priced. I know i thought i was overpaying for verizon but then when i went and looked around i realized i wasnt and I was getting great service to go along with it

The price for smartphone 4G plans haven't been released yet. The BBA 4G plans actually dropped from the 3G only prices ($50 vs. $59). Base on that, I would say the smartphone plans would probably stay the same ($30).

I think the plans are going to stay similar prices atleast for a little while until LTE is more prevalent. just my .2

I just wish a majority of customers would educate themselves on what the technology is they are actually using. LTE is going to offer faster speeds with a much greater capacity over either of the 3g systems, yet they want to cap the data. Its all to make a buck.
