Help One email app to rule them all?

I am looking for a CLEAN, SIMPLE, STABLE, email application.

- I would like the option to configure and use each account individually

- I would like the option to configure which accounts get alerts/sounds

- I would like to be able to individually configure when each account is queried for new emails

- I would like to be able to individually configure how far back each account goes in relation to caching and email history

- I need to be able to respond from each account as if the email came from that account (this statement addresses the options out there to consolidate all accounts into one account)

I have 3 gmail accounts, 1 yahoo account, and most importantly 1 work exchange email account.

I love how quick and clean the gmail app is, but it doesnt look like it supports adding yahoo accounts or exchange accounts. I have seen things posted about setting up gmail so that all email accounts go into one main account, but like stated above, I need to use my exchange account like it was a regular exchange account, not like some pop3 forwarded gmail account. Does the gmail account consolidation work like this?

What are my options here?

the stock mail app will do all of this. it is the mail app, not the gmail app.

only problem with it is yahoo won't come through on wifi. and its a little tricky to set up. other then that its a great app.

instructions for setting up yahoo on the stock mail app. note slightly different as this is from a moto droid phone, but it all works

Thanks for the quick response, and I actually think I tried that at one point, but the problem was that I couldnt seem to delete the gmail app and the associated account, because the "phone" or "market" or both needed/wanted the account I originally used when I setup the phone? Sound familiar? Any way around this?

yeah, just open gmail - menu - more - settings then near the bottom just uncheck email notifications. the gmail app will still get mail but it won't tell you anymore.

notifications will now just come through at the top notification bar.

now there are different ways to have short cuts onto your home screen for the central mail app.

you can add through short cuts - then scroll down to mail inbox and then pick which inbox you want (ie your most used box) this will give you the little bubble for the amount of new emails for that box, but only for that account. once you open it it up you can switch to any inbox you have. you can set a link on your home screen for each individual box if you want.

if you don't care about the new mail bubble you can add shortcut - applications - mail. this will give you a link to your central email account. you can set a default account for it to open as, but it also will open to last used.

NOTE: either way you link mail to your home screen you still get a notification of any new email in your top notification bar to let you know with sound, vibrate and led or only led. unless you set a particular inbox to not notify you at all.
 
I used titanium backup pro to freeze the gmail app, and that didnt seem to cause any problems. The market still works. Do you know if this will cause problems with anything else google related?
 
yeah, but I don't really like how the dialer and contacts work. I would prefer the stock android app. where you have the dialer and tabs for favorite, history, contacts. I'm still trying to figure out how to get that onto a sense rom.
 
I'm talking about Yahoo over the stock app. My main E-Mail account is through Yahoo, and I usually update it over Wi-Fi. I've never had any problems.
 
Thanks for the input everyone. I decided to use the stock mail app, and I froze the gmail email app, and this gave me the incentive to get rid of my yahoo email, since I never user it anyways.

Everything seems to be working! :D

My yahoo email comes in just fine over wifi on the stock mail app for Android. I've never had any issues with it on wifi and I've had mine setup and working since release day.

ok so what settings are you using? mine will not connect over wifi, never has and will not today. the video tutorial I posted also says it will not work over wifi. so did you set it up another way?

with wifi on and open mail to my yahoo account (sbcglobal.net address) and try to refresh it, I get log in failed.

Using the stock mail app, is there a way to sync/download mutilple email accounts with one click of a button? I have 3 POP3, 1Gmail and 2 yahoo email accounts. They are all loaded into the main stock email app. I want to be able to download new emails manually when I want with just one click. Right now, I go into each email account (which automatically downloads the emails as soon as you enter that email account)...And if not, I hit the refresh button. I have to do this 6 times - once for each account.
