Root One-stop shop to DJ05?

Thanks to some knowledgeable members in the lounge, I pulled the trigger on a few Fascinates on the family plan today. I ordered through Amazon wireless, so hopefully they will arrive in the next few days.

I've been trying to read up as much as possible so I can be ready to put more good use to all the work the community has done to make the Fascinate an even greater device.

But... I'm having a little trouble with understanding what is needed to get it to DJ05. Is there a one-stop guide I can use in going from a stock phone to DJ05 and the goodies to use with it?

..but I'm not sure if there is more needed before I can jump into that.

I'm sure this has been asked before, so if there is another like thread, I would appreciate being pointed in it's direction.
I have a little experience hacking an Android device (got a Pandigital Novel with stock 2.1 thanks to the great community at slatedroid.com), using ADB, etc.. but there seems to be a lot more going on with Android phones.

There is a lot of information here and at XDA, and I seem to be going in circles a bit, so just wanted to see if there was one place I could look where the information is focused and laid out.

nitsuj is the man. he will guide you towards the light! if you scroll down, he has some info on dj05.

as for dj05, here is the link to what you need flashed in order to get your phone running!. [RELEASE] DJ05 rom, kernel, radio - xda-developers
you need to dl the modem (radio), rom, and the kernel

.... if you have no idea how to root your phone and get started..... then... i suggest you look that up first :D
 
Thank you for the response Heehee. So basically all I need is root and then I can start with DJ05? No need to mess around with any of the DI01 kernels/ROMs?
 
yup! u dont have to mess with any di01 stuff. just root, get odin and push CWM through it. make a nandroid (backup in case you make a booboo :D). but getting odin requires you to get samsung drivers... so that the program can recognize your phone! here . ill give u a pretty good link to rooting. step by step instructions

so after you finish this entire process... you will have the samsung drivers installed.

then just get odin, push CWM through it, make a backup, ... then DJ05 it up:] cheers
 
Awesome, thanks to you both! Still two days until the Fascinate arrives, but I wanted to make sure I had everything I needed to get started on it.

Can't wait for the toys to arrive :)

its an amazing phone. the screen is what got me to buy it....... even if its still running on 2.1 haha!

Yeah, I'm not too worried about 2.1. I'm currently using a Sanyo Katana Eclipse... the Fascinate will be like waking up from a coma, I'm sure.

I will still eagerly await 2.2 and beyond like the rest of you though :)
