Help One thing I don't understand

The biggest thing that I hate about my epic is there is only 1 notification ring tone. I had a MUCH old, non smart phone samsung and the thing had different notification tones for everything (pic mail, txt, ringer, etc).

Why in the world can't my epic do this? I would love to have one for txt, pushes from face book, and at least email.

Right that is to do a custom one for text, but what about email and pic mail and the others. I'm sorry if I come off as dumb this phone has been a BIG upgrade for me and I have been driving myself nuts trying to find out if it can do it.

i was able to change my ringtones for everything except yahoo email as it came with its own notification and as far as i know mms/sms are the same. however, i dont know if this is your issue but i know that the only notifications that came on the phone were the stock ones and i couldn't figure out how to make my own personal ringtones show up on the notifications lists. so i searched and this is what i found:

plug up your phone with the usb cable to your comp and once you have it mounted, and are able to see the files on your sd card when you open it do the following:

Once you are in your phones SD card (removable disk), create a folder called "media".

Enter the media folder.

Create another folder called "audio".

Enter the audio folder.

Create three folders here. They will be called "alarms", "notifications", and "ringtones".

You are now all set up for custom tones. If you have MP3s you want to use, just drop them in their respective folders. notifications will display on your menu for gmail, text, system notifications, etc. ringtones will be displayed in your ringtones folder ( menu > settings > sound and display > Phone ringtone).

found it here: http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/14948-notification-ringtones.html

hope that helps

I dunno if you knew how to change the voicemail notification, but if you go to the Voicemail app > Menu > Settings > Notification you can change it from there.

I'm not sure what other people's Epics are like, but I have Zedge (ringtone search app thing) on my phone and I have Handcent. Whenever I change ringtones for anything, it always asks me what program I want to use to pick a ringtone (Android System, Handcent, Zedge).

I usually just go to the Handcent one because it lists everything I have (downloaded music, system ringtones, and ringtones from zedge), whereas Zedge and the Android System stick to their respective ringtones.
