Help One Thing I miss Since ICS Upgrade separate Vol for ring and notifications

Since the ICS update the biggest PITA is that you can no longer control the volume of the Ring and the Notifications separately. You used to be able to.

I used to keep my ringer loud enough to rip me from a sleep but my notifications nice and low so they just audible. Now I charge my phone by my bed and use it for an alarm every text and email makes loud noises and I might wind up in a divorce over it. :(

There are several apps in the Play Store that can save your marriage, and most of them are FREE!!!

Try Volume Control+, it allows you to build profiles for volumes and toggle them easily. There is also an app that allows you to build preset time schedules but it's name escapes me at the moment.

Check out Google Play store and look for "Sound Profile" by Corcanoe Software.
It works well and its FREE

Tried Volume control + and thought yeah two sliders one for Ring and one for notifications, but if you move one the other moves with it. So that is a No go.

Now I guess I am off to try sound profile.

Try Audio Control. It really works. Has profiles, etc. I love it. You have to go to settings and unlink there.

Volume Control+ is the same way, in the app press menu button, then Settings -> System Settings, and untick "Link ring and notification volumes"

Well, I tried Volume Control+ and both ring and notification volume controls move at the same time - regardless as to whether or not the system settings are changed. Audio COntrol doesn't even have separate slides for each because the probably can't be separated. No more individual controls. Ugh. What a disappointment. Like the original poster, I don't need to hear or feel (via vibrate) my notifications in the middle of the night, but if there's an emergency, I want to be able to hear my phone.

Audio control does have separate sliders if you go into settings and choose custom ringer. That's what separates them. It isn't the default.

Huh... it is indeed only in the Pro version, well, guess I need to start recommending something different. I would have sworn this worked in the free version, must have been on GB.

Anyway, so does Audio Controls work, cause now I need to find something different.

I tried this, but immediately after downloading my battery started draining faster, from around the average 5%/hr I was getting to 20%/hr, when my phone was only idle; it was also heating up abnormally when in a normal state. I uninstalled and went back to Audio Manager and no more battery issues. This really annoys me that you can't separate the volumes for purposes like emergency calls when sleeping. Major design flaw in ICS! I don't know why they ever decided it was a good idea to link them. . .

They didn't change it back on Jellybean either. So it seems they're happy with the decision. I think its a horrible idea. Why take the option to separate away from people? Many of us want to receive phone calls at night (on call or got rid of land line) but we don't want to receive notifications for every spam email that comes through. Feels like common sense but evidently not.

Pretty sure I noted this before, but just to add to the list of complaints, ICS breaks this function with Llama, too. VERY frustrating...

I use Widgetsoid and the volume widget in that gives you separate volume sliders. Widgetsoid was recently completely rewritten and I find the new version very laggy and lots of FC so for now i'm still on the old version 3.4.4

I completely agree. Horrible decision and then to compound it by not changing it back in Jellybean. Whoever made this decision and thought it was a good idea should be fired.

I tried a number of these on my Rezound with official ICS. NONE of them worked. Now, I cannot remember if this was one of the apps I tried but I suspect it will not break the Ringer/Notification Volume lock that ICS put on us.

That said, I would love to be wrong and have it work. :)

Audio Control (Pro) does work in Rezound. You must allow custom ring volume control. Set volume and notification you want and save as a profile. Then use the profile with the custom volumes...I have the "night profile (loud ring and no notifications with loud alarm) set on auto on at night. I have the day profile set to come on in morning....works great...every time.
