Help Only charges to 98%

So why does the phone only charge to 98%? So when I wake up I check it and unplug and replug until I leave in the morning and it charges to 100% I will say it makes some difference, and in the last 3 days my battery has gotten better, and knowing at what point to throw on the charger.
 
It will charge to 100%, stop charging until the level drops a bit then start charging again until it reaches 100%.
 
I think its a built in feature to prolong the life of your battery. It stops charging when it hits 100..... I just don't know when it starts charging again.

I believe it starts charging again when the battery drops to either 90% or 95%.
 
I was having the same issue and it was driving me nuts. Woke up this morning though and it was magically at 100%. I remember the first time I saw it stop at 98% and I unplugged it and not more than 10 seconds later it dropped to 97% lol
 
Last night I saw my battery jump from 3% to 4% without being plugged in at all, lol. I even went back to check the graph to see if I imagined it and it showed going up without being charged.

Hopefully this thing is fully calibrated within a week or so. It definitely isn't yet though as the first 50% goes a LOT faster than the last 50% for me.

I remember my old Epic 4G having the same issue. It would only charge to 97%, I would have to unplug and replug it in to reach 100%. My G. Nexus will only reach 99%, sometimes I'll do the old unplug, replug to reach 100%, most of the time I don't pay attention to it.
 
you should have had an incredible. it would say 100% charged and a minute after you unplugged it it would be 92%. the only way to get it to 100 for real was to charge to 100%, turn the phone off, then plug it in again for another 30minutes. in the grand scheme of things it really wasn't worth it.

my point is almost all phones have some kind of battery "saving" feature to not over charge or stress the battery, it really isn't a big deal. you would be far more annoyed if it didn't have this feature and your battery was useless after 3 months and you had to buy a replacement.
 
Make sure you are using the cable and charger the SGN came with.

We have seen a slew of problems here because people were using different chargers or old cables from other phones.

That would be the first thing I would check.
 
Hello, I just read about this on another thread. It would appear that is has a built in battery tender, if so, this is a good thing. Basically, when charging the battery, it will charge to 100% then turn off the charger until the charge held by the battery reduces to a predetermined amount. At that point it begins charging again. If you charge it with the phone off, it will charge to 100% then simply stop, since the phone is off,it does not cycle , thus still 100%. Unplugging a turned on phone (that is not registering 100%) and then plugging it back in, restarts the cycle. This whole process protects the battery.

Problem is... this isn't normal behavior.
 
My GN stops at 98% if ON while charging. Yesterday, I let the battery completely drain, phone died. I re-charged it w/ the phone OFF. Powered it on and it showed 100% charge. Although within 30 secs of being on, it had dropped to 99%.
 
Left it on to top up on the usb/computer connection. I've done this before and it will say in this status:
