Help Only lost 3% battery overnight !!!

Lurker
I've had my desire about three weeks now with real bad battery drain - I let it go down to about 20% last night then gave it a full charge , I woke up this morning with 97 % battery left , hopefully that's gonna be a sign of things to come - good battery life

I find that when the phone is in standby it's pretty efficient - I had a really bad hangover the other day and barely touched my phone and the battery use was negligible. Start playing games, browsing, using GPS though and it's a different story.

I do often get 1-5 % drain overnight, which is fine by me, what I just don't get is how the same phone with the same apps being used the same way (and the phone is charged to same way) can the next night drop 15%, and then the next day the battery life can be shortened still further.

The issue with certain apps having the ability to stop the phone sleeping seems to be the main culprit but it's still a bit hit and miss for me, especially when battery life is so important. It really puts me off installing new apps when they can change the phone's behaviour like this, not mention other problems that can crop up when an app alters the main functions of the phone in the background.

The first night I had my phone I lost 52% - so Im a fair bit happier .

My phone will be at like 98 percent and this is after I stopped using my phone as an alarm. I think the Android alarm fails in so many ways. Ive been late to work countless times from it. Or maybe I shut it off subconsciously but I can't depend on it whatsoever

Really? I love the alarm, its 100% accurate for me, but I am interested to know what you think is better

Its hard to believe that the alarm will (for me) use 10% of the battery, there is only that and ONE wallswitch throughout the night

Well mine was fully charged at 22:30 last night and was at 80% at 08:00 this morning. And as for the alarm, mine only makes a noise when it feels like it. The vibrate works and is loud enough to wake me up but very rarely is the alarm sound played.

Normally I lose about 1-4% battery, mostly 1-2%. One time it still said 100% when I woke up!

The only programs "running" was Gentle Alarm and Sleep Bot Tracker.

i lose barely any charge if the phone is asleep, and I always keep 3g & sync on... for instance if I unplug at 10 - 11 pm, it would probably still be at 100% up until 8am.

i reckon if i didn't use it AT ALL, it could last 12 hours asleep before it dropped any % whatsoever

It's not a task killer that's shutting off my alarm. However this isn't the problem at hand :P. Honestly I just charge my phone through out the day. This may be hell on the battery but by the time the battery is worthless itll probably be time for a new phone anyways

What you have to remember is your network also has an impact on your battery. A busy network can mean your phone has to work harder to find and maintain a signal, even when your not using it. Computers, fridges, anything electromagnetic, beds (full of metal springs), can have an adverse effect on signal and thus power drain.

I like to put my phone in Airplane mode over night, with my alarm set or not it uses 2% battery.

I lose around 5% of battery which is nice considering I use to lose 10% each night doing nothing. I also underclocked my phone at 245 Mhz when screen off.
